irving has it written all over him. he's going to want the bright lights. not to mention the justice of getting kyrie after gilbert was so dead set on screwing us over in the cp3 situation.

The only chance we have of getting Kyrie is if Quicken Loans gets implicated in another subprime scandal, and Dan Gilbert has a fire sale of his assets.

I think the days of the top stars jumping ship are just about done. The new CBA heavily rewards staying with your current team and "sign and trades" are going to be difficult as well.

A trade of a star for a star is about the only way it's going to be feasible I'm afraid.

Although signing/trading for a star would be nice, I would like us to develop one again.

Magic, Kobe...the best players we've had were the players who've defined this organization and were perennial Lakers. Trade for high draft pick, and scout like crazy.

^I don't know if most Lakers fans have the patience to go through the OKC route of sucking multiple years in order to stockpile lottery picks.

Durant or Kyrie.

Well, we don't have to suck. We can trade Pau for a lottery pick or something of that matter a la the Vlade-Kobe route.

Nash's contract ends in 2015. Kobe has said that he will only play 1 to 2 years more max. If Kobe plays 2 more years, he will also be gone in 2015.

Surprisingly overwhelming consensus on Irving. I watched a bunch of youtube stuff, and it made me regret not watching more Cavs game this year. He does seem to possess the insane self confidence and trust needed to be a superstar. So... I guess I'll throw my hat in on him too. What the hell

^^ Still rather have Durant. Can't ignore the fact that he's like 6-10 with the skills of a SG and the shooting touch of very, very few, and will be starting his prime (26 years old) by 2014. He'll have more experience and will be as big a difference maker as a single player can be on any team. The dude isn't even in his prime yet and he's leading the league in scoring on 50/40/90 shooting! Kyrie is a beast, definitely gonna be THE pg in a few years, but he won't be at Durant's level IMO. The combination of Durant's skillset with his long, tall & athletic frame is just too much.

^^^^ agreed ... the only scenario in which KD leaves OKC is if he doesn't win a title until his contract is up ... tough to imagine OKC not winning a title until the 2016 Summer

KD needs to learn to play defense and I have trouble imagining him playing long term without adding a little muscle. If for nothing else but cushion. Did any of you guys see him fall in that Miami game? He looked like a broom with a bunch of other broom taped to him. He's so damn thin.

All it's going to take is one serious injury to one of his ridiculously long appendages and he's going to have a tough career from then on out.
