funny to hear the MVP chant when Kobe is NOT at the line (was SHAQ)

My random Lakers thought...

Theo has been pretty solid for us in the limited minutes he's gotten. He actually moves a lil better than I thought he would. Appreciation thread time?

No one will ever match Kobe's most minutes played as a Laker record. By the time he's done that record is gonna be way way way out there.

^^ I thought that exact same thing last night after he broke the record by Kareem. There's just no way that anyone is going to break Kobe's record when he's done. He came right out of high school and while he played behind Eddie Jones for his first couple seasons he jumped into big time minutes by the time he was what, 20? Add several more years to his current total (knock on wood, anti-jinx) he should be untouchable.

I wonder how many wins the Lakers wil have by the end of the season, i am gonna go out of a limp and say around 70.....

You never know. I'm personally hoping for and expecting about 65 wins. But I think we have one of those threads around here somewhere in the archives.

I'd say maybe 67-15 or even 68-14 which would be very very good.

We'll see how many minutes will Kobe have at the end of his career, but we cannot say impossible. For example, Malone has 53479 minutes with the Jazz, and Kobe has now 37526 minutes. It will be difficult for him to surpass Malone's mark. Of course, Malone's minutes are sick, but the fact of having a guy with more minutes in a team in front of Kobe means there is a chance that someone will surpass him someday.

It's so crazy though, isn't it, how quickly Mitch turned it all around from what was essentially a one and a half man team (Lamar when he played well - only half the time back then) into the monster it is right now?

I just went to NBA.com and checked out the Lakers stat line. I know it's a small sample size but you can see the trends already. Our team currently reminds me so much of the Showtime teams in terms of depth and talent level. You've got great leaders putting up big time numbers, a big and a guard in KAJ and Magic/Gasol and Kobe. Then you have the next tier of all star caliber forward play in Silk/Worthy/Odom. Plus you've got guards/wings who can score in the starting lineup Scott/Fish. Guys off the bench who can score in Barnes/Shannon Brown/Big Mac. And you've got your big time defensive wing Artest/Coop. And you've got great role players in the second unit Blake/Rambis. And all of this without even seeing a minute of Andrew Bynum yet.

I want to say again for the record: this team is just absolutely SICK. We might not be as dominant (we aren't) as the Shaq three-peat squad. But we have the depth and talent level that approaches the Showtime squads.

I'm not. I don't want anymore added pressure on us. Look what happened to the Pats in 07. It will look horrible if we break it and don't win the championship.

My random thought....

On "Golden Days, Purple Knights"...the subject of celebs at the games. Robert Horry recounted the time when Halle Berry was courtside whereupon the ball went out of bounds at her feet. He rushed there to inbound the ball and had to contend with other players from both sides who wanted to do the same.

Magic Johnson was amazing but for me Kobe is the best Laker everrrrrrrr just my thoughts

That is very tru, if that is the case I would rather us not break the record and win the championship than to break it and win nothin. I am sure all fans here can agree to that.....

The Lakers already have a 17th title.. when they were in the NBL

Nash = 10 for dimes or assists average

Howard = 12 for how many boards he will average

Kobe = 24 for pts average

Sacre = 0 the number of games we'll lose.
Metta World Peace = 15 the number of blocks and steals we'll average between our starters.

It's so weird seeing how many Lakers are not in the league anymore since our back to back title run....

Sasha / Mbenga / Farmar / Powell / Morrison....

Walton will be done after this season....
