With Kobe we would have won for sure. Without him... I still think/hope we got this :jam2:

It's gonna feel weird watching a playoff series without Kobe.

We win in 6. The team has enough talent to put it together and rally around the fallen leader.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

IMO we're just not good enough without Kobe. Dwight Howard not surrounded by shooters, there's only so much he can do with his limited offense. He draws doubles, and he knows how to hit the open man, but if the open man can't hit, we're screwed. Our defense looked pretty good for a lot of the game, but we cannot score, we have not a single player on this team that can just go out and get their own shot.

the offensive "weapons" (you can't even call them that) are just too damn inconsistent, including nash now

pau is back to being passive
jamison is hit or miss
mwp is hit or miss
blake has been playing well over his paygrade and can't keep this up
nash is a shell of himself
meeks is a scrub
the fact that morris is even playing should tell you everything you need to know

our defense as a team looks improved lately, but we aren't going to win any games with the offensive production we saw in game 1, no matter what we do on defense.

Welp...Spurs did what they were supposed to do. Any chance we steal game 2? I think it's just a matter of knocking down all the open shots we missed.

Lakers solved their defensive issues. Only issue now is hitting shots. Which has been, in my opinion, the biggest reason this team has lost so much this year. After injuries, identity, etc. Bottom line is the Lakers got through all those things you cant control, to an NBA team's inability to hit open shots for 48 min on a consistent basis.

At least it was more about hitting shots than about leaving your man all the time. I thought it was a solid game & with adjustments on the offensive end we can steal game 2.

Unless we find some spark on offense I'm afraid we're probably done in 4-5..

Eh. Not that bitter at this loss. I kinda expected it, as I was one of the 4 who voted Spurs in 5.

We just can't shoot well enough to maximize our strength inside.

Perimeter offense has been an achilles heel of the Lakers for a number of seasons now. One would think that at some point they'd address the issue, but the beat seems to go on and on. Trying to establish a strong inside presence without putting a few perimeter scorers on the floor is self-defeating. Doesn't make any sense. I suppose Meeks was supposed to fill that role somewhat, but he doesn't have a pure stroke.

The defense is better in a slower paced game. The defense sucked early on in the season when we were playing too fast. Our D should look good in this series, but we must make outside shots.

Meeks is not ready for prime time.

ACHILLES!!!!

meeks doesnt have a pure stroke?

i have to disagree, he just missing all of his shots, just like every other laker 3pt shooter that joined this team in the last 8 years.

i swear, i bet even ray allen would start bricking when he gets here, i dont know what it is, 3pt specialists just start bricking when they come here, and just have one great shooting game every what? 2 years?

boy got a stroke and boy can shoot. im pretty sure hes thinking way too much and stressing it, in Philly he had no pressure, just play ball and play hard, over here its u get the balll, u better make that shot.

dude needs to relax himself.

^He's actually only a percentage point better (.357 on 4.4 attempts per game) than MWP this season (.342 on 5.5 attempts per game.) His shot may look prettier, but it's still clanking off the the rim in the end.
I should get an assist for that. It's an intentional pass to oneself, so it's an assist. That way people can't say all I do is shoot.

Spurs in 4. :freak2: :bang:

I really hope I'm too pessimistic and wrong though. If there was ever a team D'Antoni has to beat, it would be the Spurs considering he has enough coaching experience and playoffs battles with Greg PoppaZit on the other side.

But I also believe the Spurs are way too strong for us without Kobe.

Nash has maintained his 3 point % he just doesn't shoot enough of them. Hopefully we grab a great 3pt shooter in the offseason. Curry, Thompson, Korver, Novak, Matthews, Foye, Calderon.. That's the type of players we need to surround D12 with, especially while Pau is still around. Some pipe some very possible. Curry is the elite 3 point shooter of this era we should try to land him at all costs. Maybe if we take on Biedrins & Landry we could get him for Pau & Nash.
