Pat Riley's success in Miami has stirred Phil's competitive fire. He wants back in. Jim won't let him. Just gave away another big piece.

When teams win as the Lakers have, it's easy for ownership to decide enough is enough. We don't need to go all out. We've won enough.

If you really want to win a title. I mean really win. Then you want DH12 on your team and you want @PhilJackson11 involved big time. #simple

i would take pat riley or jerry west over phil. Phil quit on the team the last year he was the coach.

He quit? :man3: He gave everything he had, was battling cancer at the time, and his team was spent from 3 Finals trips in a row.

I wouldn't say he quit. I'd say he was outcoached because frankly he was preoccupied. Add that to a tired team and there you go.

If his second tweet is interpreted as the Lakers have won enough /vomit
You always go all out, there is never enough of winning.

Phil, as always IMO, with some calming words of wisdom, with a little shot/jab thrown in as well.

@PhilJackson11: Error in reporting about my involvement with @DwightHoward meeting. I was amenable to talking with DH, but the meet never came to play.

@PhilJackson11: Reflection on DHoward’s exodus. He left a distaste in Lakerland The Lakers will be fine. Pau fits MDA’s style of Off-it was about the future

@PhilJackson11: What DH brings to the game is power and D. This past year didn’t show due it to rehab and confusion. If he is better of an
Astro, so be it.

I don't think the Lakers "will be fine" as he claims. Will they make the playoffs? Sure. Win a championship? Not against San Antonio or Miami.

I figured he meant they'd be fine in the long run, not immediately. But if he meant they'd be fine now it's probably more of him trying to stay on our side, supporting the team trying to find a way onto the staff.

I don't understand why it is so hard for many to hear that Phil did not plan on coaching again for anything more than another quick title run (if that).
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Funny parting shot at D12 - calling him an Astro...

Gasol does fit MDA's offense ... but only as the C, not the PF. Still need a 4 who can stretch the floor. Is Kelly up for the task? Can Hill develop a midrange game?

I always thought Phil was done coaching: have to remember he wasn't that enthusiastic when Brown was fired, needed more time to think on it, hence Mitch and Cap Boy went with MDA. But yes, he's love an official front office role. But don't think Cap Boy wants him there. Think it's political with his sister.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
