Try and steal Darrell Arthur too. He would be the perfect power forward for us. Good pick n pop/mid range shooter and also an excellent pick n roll defender.

I don't see this happening. Pierce will be a Celtic for the remainder of his career.

Just curious, but why has Memphis been shopping him for years now? Is it just his contract?

I doubt the Lakers are willing to take a 19 M player in 2014-2015 when the repetitive tax kicks in ... AND it sure doesn't help the 2014 free agency plan ...

Gay would help this team but I don't think his impact is all that ... he sure isn't a player who would get a team over the top

Makes sense. Guys who have averages 20ppg 3 out of their 7 year career who are 6'9" and run like cheetah grow on trees

Guys who do all of that and shoot 45% and 34% are all over the place

Yes gay isn't a player who would help a team over the top if he's a #1 or #2 option

Interesting though that here he'd be a #3 option and a consistent scorer

this would be a move to salvage this season. but as someone mentioned before, we have no legitimate big man after dwight, so we'd need to swing a deal to get a reasonable backup big.

That issue would be secondary. I think you could get a serviceable big for ebanks and Morris

Emphasis on serviceable.

i'm with you. I personally would be more excited about us ending up with pierce in that scenario. basically same contract as pau and we get a decent defensive principle , championship, big shot making vet to make a run this year who we can still deal at end of season with expiring. we would have the toughness to beat okc & miami. plus it truly gives 24 a back up to give him rest. 24 out pierce slides to 2 and metta in at 3.

pg- nash
sg- 24
sf- pierce
pf- clark
C- D12

* metta 6th man (a role he already embraced earlier in the year)

I said in the MWP thread, Ron should be our 6th man. He accepts whatever role he's called upon to do. He doesn't complain, he just puts out max effort.

Gay would be a nice injection of youth and athleticism this team sorely needs.

No, you would not. You haven't seen Pierce lately. He can't defend anymore and is one of the slowest players in the NBA right now. I'm not even exaggerating. His shooting percentages are down too. He would make us even slower and worse defensively.

so nash is 39. i am talking about a 1 year title run with this squad and then deal pierce's expiring in off season.
rudy gay is due 18mil in 2015 not a proven star and would kill free agency. that team i named would be so tough in close games and have the ability to actually make teams pay when floor is spaced. look at that line up and tell me who beats it?

pierce is old but he understands defense. mentally that team would be so dominant. 24 & pierce at end of games would be lights out for the league.

No, you have not watched him recently. Celtics fans are really upset with his speed, total lack of athleticism and weak defense.
