I think you could do worse for a 3rd string C. I wasn't a believer early last season, but he has some post moves, a jumper, he's a big body, 6 fouls, cheap, a good teammate and happy to be in LA.

Good character guy, hard worker. I'm not disappointed unlike the Morris situation.

Sacre bleu this is unexpected......

The way things are going on our bench he will be taking Antwan's 6th man slot......

I love this kid. I hope he sticks on the team for a few years and develops into that 3rd String Center that he has built in him.

I'm really pleased for Sacre. He's actually a fairly competent and useful back-up bigman. Glad the Lakers are looking to retain him.

I like the kid and I think he will work on his game cause he is hungry.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

He's big, he works hard, and he's young. Great 14th/15th man for now who can give us 6 fouls a game if someone gets hurt, but he also has the potential to become a legitimate back-up Center.

maybe we are low-balling Sacre with nicknames like sacre-bleu etc, a little too obvious.....

yeah, good to have guys who want to be here at the end of the bench, imo. madsen-style!

easy to cut if you need to replace him for any reason, too.

Good move. I'm glad we still have him on our team. OK 3rd string center and arguably the best bench cheerleader in the game.

He's fine as a 3rd string center, but man his vertical is non-existent. I'm starting to wonder if he's got calf issues.

It's about the same as Metta's. 5 inches, max. Cement shoes.

Sacre has a 30 inch vertical (29 inches standing). That's not bad for a 7 footer. It's just that his arms are short and his reaction time isn't blinding fast.

Backup center Robert Sacre signs a three-year deal with Lakers
Posted on July 10, 2013 by Elliott Teaford
Robert Sacre, a backup 7-foot center, signed a new three-year contract Wednesday. The deal is actually for two years plus a team option on the third. Sacre averaged 1.3 points and 1.1 rebounds in 6.3 minutes in 32 games as a rookie last season. He started three games. He also played eight games for the D-League D-Fenders, averaging 11 points and 8.8 rebounds in 32.8 minutes.

“I worked so hard, I kind of felt like I, well, I didn’t deserve it but I do deserve it,” Sacre said.

WTF is this. We don't want to give out multiple year contracts, but give one to a cheerleader.

For some reason I don't believe that. :man10:

But at the same time, if it's true it's not surprising. Teams can always use an active 7 footer and they're not easy to come by. The FO might have come to the conclusion that they won't find a cheaper, better option at 7 feet tall, loves being a Laker, and is willing to be whatever string we need him at.
