Clark is playing backup C, why are we focusing on a washedup geezer like Bell? :man3:

What happened to Amundson? Why aren't we getting that guy with our exemption?

I just heard that Houston is trading Marcus Morris: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/marcus_morris/
He is 6-9, 235lbs, not bad...

The only hope is that Mitch won't pursue Bell and go after a position of need. It is good news that D'Antoni is the coach (not GM) because he doesn't have final say on roster moves.

You know those guys that are ahead of us in the standings? Well, they just got a little better...

per Woj:
The Houston Rockets acquired Sacramento's Thomas Robinson, the fifth overall pick in the draft, in a three-way deal on Wednesday night, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Rockets sent Patrick Patterson, Toney Douglas and Cole Aldrich to the Kings, and Marcus Morris to the Phoenix Suns as part of the trade.

The Kings give up Robinson, the power forward out of Kansas, Francisco Garcia, Tyler Honeycutt and a future second-round pick to the Rockets, sources said.

Morris, the 14th overall pick of the 2011 draft, had started 17 games for the Rockets this season, averaging 8.6 points and 4.1 rebounds. Morris averaged 21 minutes a game for Houston.

They just traded him to Phoenix, & Patrick Patterson to Sac.

Patrick Patterson is better than Robinson. They lost their backup Center, backup PG and backup PF in that deal and replaced them with a SF and a guy that won't play in Honeycutt.

I think the Rockets got worse.

So Phoenix has both of the Morris brothers now, they're solid players. Houston gets potentially better, not good.

Gasol getting hurt really really really really screwed us from getting better via trade this year. Should have traded him when MDA was hired. Stupid.

Would have loved (and would like to tonight) to trade him to Minny for D. Williams, Buddinger, kirelenko, Roy and picks, and send Clark, D. Williams, and Blake to Atl for Josh Smith. Then send Duhon and a Minny pick to Det for Will Bynum.

Minny gets Gasol for later this season and next and Ebanks for a bunch of bench players and unloads Roy too.

Atl gets Clark (who is emerging and likely someone we won't be able to afford this summer) and D. Williams (still potential and expiring) to replace Smith and a back up pt guard -- a great offer for them given they would lose Smith for nothing.

We get the pieces we need from Gasol's contract and awesome depth to make a real push with a contending team.

Nash, Bynum, Morris
Kobe, Meeks (Arenas. Or T. Williams??)
Artest, Buddinger (perfect 3 for us)
Smith, Jamison, Kirelenko
Dwight, Sacre (Kirirlenko at spots? Or. A vet FA big body)

Love that team, esp with Kobe at the 3 more and Bynum sparking the bench and finding shooters like Meeks, Jamison, and Buddinger.

If only.....

Sac wouldn't dump Robinson for so little if he was any good, I dont think its much of a concern.

would be nice if this happened and we make a pitch for him, not sure he'll bite since we're not actually in the playoff picture yet

Brian Windhorst: Suns have to make roster move to make room for Morris deal. Teams have been expecting a Jermaine O'Neal buyout/release if not traded. Twitter @WindhorstESPN

I don't care if he has no knees. We need a big body and he would be the best available, besides a trade.

Hell I'll take JO if he's bought out or released, I just wasn't thrilled on trading for him. But a cheap pickup after being released, sure.

Patterson better than Robinson? :man3:

Well I guess we'll find out, but the I have no idea what the Kings are thinking...must be cause they're preparing to sell and/or move.

As for the deadline, I thing nothing goes down...if anything maybe a roster clearing move to save money and have a spot open, if we do make the playoffs and need depth.

But for the hell of it, here's my proposal:
LA: JSmoove, Marrow, Minny pick
ATL: AK47, DWill, Pekovic, Morris, Minny pick
Minny: Pau, Ebanks

LA gets a perimeter guard for our 3diotic offense and we get to appease "our future"
Minny gets established talent and appeases their future.
ATL gets a center whose contract they can structure in the offseason, which moves Horford to his desired position at PF...this will also help them matchup better against Miami. They get youth, picks and a cheaper JSmoove type in AK.

never said he was better just dont think its big difference in the 2 currently based on their overall production. Maybe Robinson is better in the long run but not this season IMO.

Suns May Buyout Jermaine O'Neal

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine

Word is Knicks will be at front of line to try to sign Jermaine O'Neal if Phoenix consents to buy JO out to make room for Marcus Morris

Still think Amundson would've been a good add as soon as Pau went down.
JO would be a great addition, too.

And I completely agree that we need a big. Not a SF.

As badly as we need a big, I don't know if adding JO to a roster full of chemistry issues is a good idea. Most years we can afford that risk but I'd prefer Amundson by a long shot.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
Lakers offering Steve Blake, Chris Duhon, Devin Ebanks, Darius Morris for 2nd-rounders, sources say. Looking to unload, free roster spots.

1.) This tells me Morris/Ebanks probably won't be back next season if they are looking to get dumped for 2nd round picks just to free roster spots up. YAHOO!!! Blake and Duhon might have to get packaged in a bigger deal, but who knows.

2.) I hope we can move one of those guys for a big, I know a daunting task, but that's what I hope.

3.) Why are we trying to open roster spots up. :man12:

Honestly I'm not sure I want to give up Blake at this point unless we're getting a young PG back.

But getting rid of Duhon, Morris, and Ebanks just means good things. That's dead weight. Especially Duhon and Ebanks.

I'm curious to see what Smoove ends up going for. Actually, I'm interested in seeing what expirings like Dalembert end up going for....

It'll prelude to what type of chatter we'll get from other teams next trade deadline. We have nearly 40M in expirings next year. And the crazy thing is that we can mix and match different contracts to get any variety of expiring amounts heading out. :man13:

That is why I rather hold on to guys like Duhon and Blake. But flipping Morris and Ebanks for a roster spot soon to be taken up by a bought out JO isn't bad. I just think D'Antoni will find a way to screw it up...unless the roster spot gets filled by a backcourt player who wants to fling up shots from the perimeter....now who does that sound like? Ring any bells?
