Roster Improvement: Free Agents Now and Later?

I'm curious to see what Smoove ends up going for. Actually, I'm interested in seeing what expirings like Dalembert end up going for....

It'll prelude to what type of chatter we'll get from other teams next trade deadline. We have nearly 40M in expirings next year. And the crazy thing is that we can mix and match different contracts to get any variety of expiring amounts heading out. :man13:

That is why I rather hold on to guys like Duhon and Blake. But flipping Morris and Ebanks for a roster spot soon to be taken up by a bought out JO isn't bad. I just think D'Antoni will find a way to screw it up...unless the roster spot gets filled by a backcourt player who wants to fling up shots from the perimeter....now who does that sound like? Ring any bells?

That's not even his responsibility. If he's given Bell or he's given O'Neal, that's what he's given, but this entire thread is non of his responsibility.

Blake for a second rounder? But he's playing well...so unless we're getting some stability at the PG spot somehow I don't like the move.

I mean that IS my deal...

If you want to say he can screw up the pieces given to him, that's one thing. But the way you wrote it sounded more like he would screw up adding a certain player. He's not responsible for adding a guy, just for the way he's used when he gets here.

And lately? No I don't think he's screwed up that much. When he got here maybe, but since we started winning he's used everyone exactly as they should be used.

Any other competent coach gets this roster above .500 this late in the season. You got talent all over the place to counter with the injuries. No way, no how is this roster supposed to be sub .500 with the early favorable schedule we have had so far.

If Mitch brings in a big to fill the roster spot, will D'Antoni give that big PT? Methinks not...hence, D'Antoni will find a way to screw it up.

Get used to hearing Bell for 3...

Looks like Pho/Milw are the front runners for Smith, I would've been worried with Hou in the mix but I guess they're gona wait for the summer to add. Dam, why can't Utah/Hou just crash :mad1:

1.) This tells me Morris/Ebanks probably won't be back next season if they are looking to get dumped for 2nd round picks just to free roster spots up. YAHOO!!! Blake and Duhon might have to get packaged in a bigger deal, but who knows.

2.) I hope we can move one of those guys for a big, I know a daunting task, but that's what I hope.

Boston, Chicago and Golden State are all within 4M of the luxury tax threshold.

I'm thinking they would be the most active in shedding payroll right up to the deadline....then its buyout time.

Meanwhile Cleveland, Houston and Phoenix are prepared to take on substantial salary cause they're hovering around the salary min.
