Roster Improvements: addition by subtractions

Yes, but so is Jamison, and he's pretty good.

Until the end of the season... why not? It's not like we'd give him 5 years, 15 million. :man12:

Were going to be the Suns 2.0 while the Knicks are the Nuggets 2.0
with Melo, Smith, Camby, Martin.

In a vacuum it'd be fine...I was just thinking "another player over 30" that's all.

Your right. We lose nothing. I suppose he could help us defensively on the wing as well as knock down a few jumpers.

Or at the VERY LEAST he'd help the guys in practice.

We need a small forward. Bell is not one. He's 6'4, 210. He's more of a thick combo guard than a swing man. He will get murdered by every 3 in the league. Realistically we're looking at a guy who can maybe play some minutes behind Kobe, but don't expect him to play good defense. Sure he'll go out there with some fake Derek Fisher hustle, and knock down a shot or two in the corner, but let's be real, he's going be a below average shooting guard for us. Nothing more.

If he gets bought out and comes here for cheap, I just don't see why not.

I know you guys don't like him, and I don't either, but it's better than nothing. Plain and simple. Just 5 minutes a game gives us 5 minutes a game less of Metta World Peace and Kobe Bryant playing excessive minutes.

Why not? We need size. We're playing Jamison and Clark at backup C, while a guy like Amundson is available. I don't think we need another 6'4 to 6'6 guy, we could play Ebanks an expect as much as TinkerBell, we need a big.

If he really does cut into MWP's minutes I'm all for it, its horrible seeing him out there so much with such dumb plays.

Raja Bell is reportedly telling friends that he's going to join the Lakers, according to Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld.

^ Only if the Jazz actually buy him out. Another report (I think from the same source) said that Utah will delay buying him out just so he doesn't come to LA.

Jazz really aren't in a hurry to cut him lose, IMO the contract is to little for Bell to give up much of it. If he really wanted out badly he would take less, like Fisher did with Hou, he pretty much gave an entire year worth of a contract. Bell seems to want a big chuck of his contract value plus guarantee of another team signing, otherwise I would think it would've been done by now considering Jazz really have no use for him at all not even just sitting on the bench wise.

If we pick up Amundson I will be happy, he is 6'9 but plays bigger than he is & does the dirty work.

UPDATE: According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Utah Jazz Senior Vice President Kevin O'Connor recently went on team-owned radio station 1280 The Zone and candidly spoke about what's hanging up the team's long-rumored buyout of veteran Raja Bell.

"I think it's been from the start. We'll be willing to look at a buyout," O'Connor said. "We're not just going to let him walk away. We're paying him the money. He's going to get money. He can't get all the money from us and then go make more with the Lakers. Oh, thank you. I'd get fired for that. I'd fire me for that."

Then, when asked whether the team would be motivated to keep Bell under contract so he doesn't play for the Lakers, O'Connor revealed more details.

"Yeah, if we thought that was the best interest of the team," he said. "I'd like not to do that. I don't think you want to be in a situation where you're holding somebody hostage in that respect, but let's go back. Raja said, 'Hey, I'll take a buyout.' We've said it from the start: All we want is a minimum buyout. We never heard from him. He never said yes to it. We would have done it right away."

all this just proved my point, Bell is greedy, he probably wants a pretty large chuck of his contract otherwise he would've been out a long time ago. If you he really wanted out, take a page out of Fishers books, he did it TWICE in his career now, with Utah and with Hou.

Lol TinkerBell wants out to come here, he just wants to get paid to leave too. :man10: Sounds to me like he could have gotten out months ago, but would rather sit out and not play, not the type of motivated guy I want.

If it isn't going to work out with Bell, and it sure doesn't sound that way, I would hope that we would go after Amundson before he's picked up by someone. We could use either a big or a small forward pretty badly.

Yep...Amundson is a lively body who will do the DIRTY work. Setting screens, hitting the glass, boxing out...rotating defensively...things that don't show up in the stats. Set him at the 4 and slot Clark at the 3.
Nor can the Lakers get blamed for always making the right decisions over decades. At some point its not just luck or "gamble", its superior management and superior ownership.

Yes please.
Vitti uttered three words that surely applies to how Bryant made two free throws on one leg, walked off the court on his own and processed his rehabilitation plan amid the pain, frustration and tears.

Please no to a washed up Raja Bell, he rejected the Lakers offered back in 2011, so he doesn't deserve to be a lakers again, plus he is done.

I prefer we sign a backup big, Clark and Jamison cannot played at the 5 spot when Dwight is out. I rather we sign Lou Amundson
