If he really does cut into MWP's minutes I'm all for it, its horrible seeing him out there so much with such dumb plays.

Raja Bell is reportedly telling friends that he's going to join the Lakers, according to Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld.

^ Only if the Jazz actually buy him out. Another report (I think from the same source) said that Utah will delay buying him out just so he doesn't come to LA.

Jazz really aren't in a hurry to cut him lose, IMO the contract is to little for Bell to give up much of it. If he really wanted out badly he would take less, like Fisher did with Hou, he pretty much gave an entire year worth of a contract. Bell seems to want a big chuck of his contract value plus guarantee of another team signing, otherwise I would think it would've been done by now considering Jazz really have no use for him at all not even just sitting on the bench wise.

If we pick up Amundson I will be happy, he is 6'9 but plays bigger than he is & does the dirty work.

UPDATE: According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Utah Jazz Senior Vice President Kevin O'Connor recently went on team-owned radio station 1280 The Zone and candidly spoke about what's hanging up the team's long-rumored buyout of veteran Raja Bell.

"I think it's been from the start. We'll be willing to look at a buyout," O'Connor said. "We're not just going to let him walk away. We're paying him the money. He's going to get money. He can't get all the money from us and then go make more with the Lakers. Oh, thank you. I'd get fired for that. I'd fire me for that."

Then, when asked whether the team would be motivated to keep Bell under contract so he doesn't play for the Lakers, O'Connor revealed more details.

"Yeah, if we thought that was the best interest of the team," he said. "I'd like not to do that. I don't think you want to be in a situation where you're holding somebody hostage in that respect, but let's go back. Raja said, 'Hey, I'll take a buyout.' We've said it from the start: All we want is a minimum buyout. We never heard from him. He never said yes to it. We would have done it right away."

all this just proved my point, Bell is greedy, he probably wants a pretty large chuck of his contract otherwise he would've been out a long time ago. If you he really wanted out, take a page out of Fishers books, he did it TWICE in his career now, with Utah and with Hou.

Lol TinkerBell wants out to come here, he just wants to get paid to leave too. :man10: Sounds to me like he could have gotten out months ago, but would rather sit out and not play, not the type of motivated guy I want.

If it isn't going to work out with Bell, and it sure doesn't sound that way, I would hope that we would go after Amundson before he's picked up by someone. We could use either a big or a small forward pretty badly.

Yep...Amundson is a lively body who will do the DIRTY work. Setting screens, hitting the glass, boxing out...rotating defensively...things that don't show up in the stats. Set him at the 4 and slot Clark at the 3.

Please no to a washed up Raja Bell, he rejected the Lakers offered back in 2011, so he doesn't deserve to be a lakers again, plus he is done.

I prefer we sign a backup big, Clark and Jamison cannot played at the 5 spot when Dwight is out. I rather we sign Lou Amundson

if this scenario was possible, would you guys do this?

Pau
for
Dwill/Minn 1st

this trade creates a giant TPE as well, then flip this tpe/a laker future 1st for Granger
tpe/la 20?? 1st
for
Granger

this sets us up with more younger players at two key spots, I know Dwill is a tweener but so be it, he can either start or be 6th man type if we are able to bring back Earl. Granger will could be an excellent wing defender and take over metta, still expires summer of 2014 so our whatever FA plan is still intact.

^^ If that were possible I'd do it in a heartbeat khmrp. Granger is sort of my ideal 3 for us. I like Rudy Gay and realdeal's idea of moving Pau for him if possible definitely caught my eye. But Granger is the guy I'd really like moving forward. To somehow move Pau for him would be perfect.

sure I'd do that. That TPE would be fantastic...

Except I don't think the Wolves are anywhere near able to take back a TPE like that. I don't know any team that is (although I haven't checked). Maybe Charlotte or Detroit...

Anyway, if there's a way to turn Pau into Granger, Gay, Love, or Deng I do that without blinking. I love Gasol, but we're moving forward now and he's frankly not in our plans.

Minn has enough cap to take back Pau for just Dwill, the tpe is from their salary difference not the entire amt of Pau contract. If all stay the same the cap is @ 58mill, Minn at the beginning of 2013/2014 is @ 49mill if all things remaining the same (player option picked up, Roy full 5mill). So Minn team salary could even be lower then $49mill before they sign other players.

It's my understanding that they'd need to be 19 million under the cap (plus Pau's trade kicker) to take him for the TPE. That would include whomever they send away for Pau.

According to storytellerscontracts.com-
-Minnesota is on the hook for 54+ million next season.
-They have a few small, non-guaranteed contracts but nothing that'd give them enough space to obtain Gasol.

are you not factoring Dwill contract of $5.4mill? My salary info is from hoops hype
http://hoopshype.com/salaries/minnesota.htm
and its @49mill with them picking up both of these options and Roy still on board, so they can get even lower without those 3 issues.

^ Your site doesn't include Alexey Shved's 3 million dollar contract.

Nor does it include the non-guaranteed contracts of Chris Johnson and Mickael Gelabale. All of those put the total at around 54 million.

Then subtract Williams' 5-ish million and you're at 49 total. You still need to cut 9 million in salary.

I assume they could absorb whatevers as long as they're under the cap before the trade? So they can't go over the cap after a trade?
