^It wouldn't save us a dime, but it would open up a roster space and help solve the logjam at the point guard position. We can't afford to amnesty Metta, he has larger contract than Blake's, and brings a lot more to the table on the court as well. Not to mention he's our starting small forward, with a big question mark(Ebanks) backing him up.

But yeah, in terms of making a good financial move, cutting ties with DJO is probably what management would do if they go after Delonte.

So is Delonte West going to be this year's official ClubLakers "Back-up Player who is the Key to Everything?" for the entire season?

Trying to remember who the first guy was CL. Marcus Banks maybe?

(...sorry guys. Not trying to troll, but I couldn't resist...)

Well.... I'm not sure who was the original but last year it was Gilbert Arenas if memory serves.....

He won't be for long if he has a lousy season again, and also we need to get younger there as well, but truthfully I don't think the Lakers will use the amnesty clause at all.

it's just one of those forced perspective things. if things are bad enough, any improvement will look like great improvement. and the backup point guard situation is less-than-rosy right now

personally, i'm not sold on west. not cuz of his basketball skills, but because of his unpredictable mental issues

I like us to get Livingston......Hou just cut him, much more of a true pg and great sz@ 6'6.....just eat the ontract and waive morris. Livingston is what we are hoping Morris could someday be but I doubt that happens.

If Delonte clears waivers we should absolutely sign him. Frank is right we have no one who can come in and step in if Nash goes down. We'd be absolutely nuts to pass him on West.

And doubt the Lakers are going to eat 3 mil in luxury taxes by cutting Morris. So suck it up he's staying.

You know Banks has come up in the CDR thread and now one concerning Delonte. Mods, can we add a Marcus Banks banner at the top with the site logo? It could be an homage to the ClubLakers faithful and whatnots

Would be nice to get an upgrade, West or whoever, and even better if we cut get rid of one of our terrible PGs in the process. A guy can dream huh.

I'm going to be highly agitated with the FO if we go into the season with Blake, Duhon, & Morris. It was a mistake to let Glock go instead of taking the hit on Morris' contract, now we have a chance to cut Morris & sign a proven combo guard in D. West. You don't sink 90M into payroll & then throw your bench out the window over a 500k guaranteed contract. Hopefully they make the right call, or we somehow trade one or all of those 3.

Not really because Glock didn't improve in summer league and Mike Brown doesn't like him. Also he had a non-guaranteed contract so it was going to happen anyways. Also that 500k guaranteed contract is 2 mil in luxury taxes thus why they are better off trying to trade Blake or Duhon than waving anyone. Also Morris can't be traded till December and he has a no-trade aka the Devean George Clause.

I understand it isn't just 500k, but the point I'm trying to make is why make that an issue when you're already spending so much? It just doesn't add up. I guess as a fan I'm looking for the easy way out to complete our bench. Mitch has the task of dealing one of those 3 bums & getting us a competent backup PG while also shedding salary. I know Mitch is capable of anything. But it wouldn't kill us to make the easy move that's right in front of our faces sometimes.

Former Dallas Mavericks guard Delonte West wants a new job. And he's posted a résumé of sorts on Twitter in hopes of getting one.

West, who was suspended indefinitely and then waived by Dallas earlier this week, used Twitter on Wednesday to list his experience and abilities. He noted that he would play for a non-guaranteed, league-minimum deal because, as he tweeted, "by the time I get there u see what I'm about&what I bring everyday."

West, clearly having fun with his job search, tweeted that he's not "comin to yr team riddin a motorcycle," a reference to the reason he was suspended for the first 10 games of the 2010-11 season. West was arrested in September 2009 for carrying three loaded guns and a knife on his motorcycle when he was stopped for speeding. He pleaded guilty to weapons charges in July 2010 and was sentenced to eight months of electronic monitoring, two years of unsupervised probation, 40 hours of community service and psychological counseling.

West, 29, was waived Monday by the Mavericks because they were concerned he wasn't a good influence on the younger players on the roster, sources told ESPNDallas.com's Tim MacMahon. The roster move allowed Dallas to make room for center Eddy Curry.

West signed a one-year deal with Dallas during the summer for the veteran's minimum ($1.2 million) after averaging 9.6 points and 3.2 assists as a role player last season. He also provided solid defense and gave the club some good energy playing either guard spot.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said it was "in the best interest of the organization" to waive West and that it was based on numerous factors. Cuban did not want to get into specifics.

"I like Delonte a lot," he said prior to Tuesday's season-opening win against the Los Angeles Lakers. "It was a difficult decision and we'll leave it at that.

"You always have to remember, the culture of the organization comes first. If you lose the culture and it goes in the wrong direction, then you've lost your team. We've had years like that where we've lost certain guys or I wasn't diligent on certain guys and it's hurt the team in a big way."

West, who has bipolar disorder, was suspended one game Oct. 16; according to sources, the punishment was related to an outburst in the locker room following a preseason win. He was suspended a second time Oct. 25 for what the Mavericks called "conduct detrimental to the team."

West, though, still wants to play basketball, if his Twitter pleas are any indication. He says he's a "High Q player/person ..low cost...great influence on young P," and added, "Only ask for communication about when checks come up missin or short...other than that...let's win some games and have fun while we doin it!"

West admits in a later tweet that this is "my resamay."

"Coach&?, let's go&take me a day or two to figure offense and a few mins to figure out defense...!!"

Waaaaay too premature to really take this seriously right now....but lets say the Lakers keep losing...would you guys put Pau on the block?

On ESPN, Magic and the fellas on NBA Countdown were talking "fantasy" trades and Magic's suggestion was Pau for Josh Smith. We've seen this trade rumor before.

Saves money & you get more flexibility with Josh being an expirng, makes you younger and more athletic, he's Dwight's boy and lastly weak side defense gets better. You obviously lose a high IQ player and a great teammate in Pau. Where you get better defensively, you lose Pau's great offensive game.

I'm not sure I would do it right now...but it's interesting moving forward...especially since Magic has hinted at potential Lakers moves and for the most part they have come to fruition.
