Free Agent Frenzy: Lakers Work Out Beasley (408)

Though if we really wanted Bell for the Playoffs, I thank the Jazz for keeping him until now. I honestly think Bell would not contribute much of anything. He's not the defender from 2006, he's not really a scorer nor a great three pointer (he's acceptable only), he hasn't played in a lot of time and he would make us even older.

Keep crappin' the bed Utah, your fans deserve every loss that gets you further and further from getting a playoff spot.

Letting us have Bell would be like inserting a "sleeper cell". He's so done it's not funny...... and he wasn't that great in his prime.

What does he bring that we don't already have?

Would looove T Mac on this team. Couldn't be worse than having Metta out there for some short spurts. Aren't he and Kobe buddies?

So Amundson is playing for the Bulls now huh? I guess we get to see him on the opposite side of the court today. I really thing we should have picked this guy up. We need a big more than we needed Raja Bell.

What about Al Thornton? He can play a similar role that Clark is playing -- to give Clark just a few less mintues while Gasol is out -- and Al is a better scorer from the post and baseline.

well we know pau is gone next year since if we get rid of his $19 mil contract were under the luxury tax...if not lakers owe $85 mil. crazy....guessing he'll be traded for picks and maybe one or two pieces after the season. too bad he hasnt played much lately....

hope it doesnt mess up the way were playing (winning wise, and digging in on D wise).

We knew Metta and Clark would come back down to earth and the FO has done nothing about it. MWP's minutes are piling up, hes hurt and fatigued right now. They have to pick up T-Mac, CDR or just anyone who can play SF for a few minutes, this is getting ridiculous

I think Mitch and Co. will just ride our current roster until Pau returns.

Hopefully we get a well-rested, slightly rusty, Spain Olympian Pau.

^ hopefully you're right. I would hate to see undersized Meeks/Blake get abused by other SGs because Clark/Jamison/MWP arent making their outside shots

Any starting SF... I'm tired of seeing offensively challenged SFs every freaking year...

I still think CDR would have been awesome for us
...and yeah I rather have T-Mac out there over MWP

I'm really getting frustrated with MWP

Dominic Mcguire? TMac? Both?

I cringe at the thought of Morris/Duhon/Blake getting extended minutes at the 2. I cringe even further thinking about how we don't have a backup SF, which is even worse now since Kobe can't shift there anymore. Then there is MWP and Ebanks trying to man down the SF spot.....

Nash / Blake
Meeks
MWP
Clark / Jamison

We're just not going to add anybody at this point. It's a waste of time... Call up Morris again and start running Blake at the 2.

It's really all we've got.

Raja is not eligible for the playoffs. That's why the Jazz finally realized him because the deadline to be playoff eligible had passed.

He knows. He means would you sign him just for the sake of it so that he can help us keep his old team out of the playoffs?

never a year where the team doesn't have some sort of weakness in the starting lineup, not expecting all-star team or anything but dam could we get SF next year who looks like he knows what he's doing out there. MWP got skills but dude look so awkward and clumsy and not to mention his shooting :bang:

They aren't signing anyone that can't make the playoff roster.. They've spent enough. What you see is what you get.

as much as mwp can be maddening, he's a useful player. i'm not sure how much better you can do with the mini MLE. the lakers' best bet for upgrading sf is via pau trade.

Which is what I'm sure they're targeting.

I imagine if they bring back a guy who's making 9-13 million (a borderline All-Star SF) then Artest gets the amnesty ax. If they bring in a bunch of guys and none of them make much, that might be Artest's only shot to stay with the team.

He's still a great one-on-one defender, but at it's just about lost it's value when you have to also accept his absolutely ridiculous offensive blunders.
