Good.... and I was getting worried that people were getting carried away with their expectations.... :man10:

I'd just like us to begin the process of rebuilding this year rather than banking everything on one next summer.

Hey now. I did preface it by saying it was my dream offseason. But honestly, if we resign Dwight and get Collison with the mni mle and move Pau for ANYTHING, I'll be happy.

:man10: I was just joshin'....

Pau for ANYTHING is my dream.....

I like Collison but not sure he'd come here for the MiniMLE.

I'm indifferent on Howard.

My semi (not at all) realistic dream offseason at this point:

Dwight & Earl Clark return. Collison for the mini mle.. If Nick Young would take the minimum obviously you take him, but more realistically, Sasha, Kmart & Nate for the minimum. Pau for Ryan Anderson & Eric Gordon. Gordon to Indy for Granger & Green. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kk4x7vu

Amnesty MWP. Dump Blake somewhere along the way. I know that's overkill in the backcourt but with Kobe possibly out until Dec & Nash a walking injury, we need backups that are ready to step in & play big minutes when needed.

Nash/Collison/Nate
Kobe/Sasha/Meeks
Granger/Green
Anderson/Clark/R-Kelly
Dwight/Hill/K-Mart

Kobe can teach Dwight all about how to be a champion with that team.

Darren Collison ? How many Mavs game did you watch last season ? ... and Pau value is WAY lower than that

This. Even as an expiring, Pau won't net you young high quality players..

Dwight is gone. Never wanted to be traded here and was never happy.
Pau moves to center, MWP moves to power forward, Earl Clark signs multi year contract with Cavs or Clips and Lakers sign Francisco Garcia for vet min. They also get a defensive, rebounding backup power forward.
lakers save cap space for 2014 which consists of kobe, pau, dirk, granger, deng and bogut. Lebron, wade do not opt out and the rest of the free agents are restricted and will not leave there current teams. This includes kyrie irving, john wall, derrick favors, paul george, and cousins.
this is depressing.
Who on this list is a cornerstone for team? 2 maybe 3. Chances that they are available? None.
They only way Lakers get a superstar is through a trade. That is reality.

Be prepared for pushback...... Reality is out of the grasp of a lot of the fans.... :man10:

I agree with most of what you wrote. I hope we find a contender who may want Pau or Nash for some compensation. The FA stuff is right on the nose. Our problem is and will be our avoidance of the draft. You get good young talent for half the FA retail cost for a few years...... SA is a great example of that.

Chicago contacted Nate Robinson and offered the minimum, per a source. He's searching for a more lucrative multi-year deal after big season.

I like the idea of moving Pau to C if Howard doesn't resign. Also I wouldn't mind seeing Kobe at SF, maybe find a defensive minded guard if we can't find an athletic SF.

Bobcats will amnesty F Tyrus Thomas to create the room to sign Jefferson.

Tyrus fell off the edge of the world in a HUGE way. :man10:

I'm not really interested, but we apparently are the most unattractive location in the NBA right now, so I'd take whoever is willing to be here for cheap.

Certainly would think Bobcats will move vet C Brendan Haywood ($2M this year and next), who could help good team as a low-priced backup.

Price for shooters - $6m
Price for shooters on a contender (Belinelli/Dunleavy) - $3m

Guess we'll have to settle for scraps because this FA pool is out of our price range, it seems.

Belinelli was never an option after the playoffs he had and based on us not being a contender. He went to the Spurs, 2 years 6 mil, great pickup for them. He makes up for the terrible Ginobili contract price IMO.

Was just thinking, since there are quite a number of teams under the cap, wouldn't it make sense to try and trade Metta to one of them for a 2nd round draft pick down the road?
In the real world, the day Steph awoke at 9 a.m. to begin his Ustream show, Kobe Bryant probably awoke at the same time, even if it was 6 a.m. in California, and lifted weights.

No one wants a useless player, even if they're expiring. I doubt we get a taker on Artest until the trading deadline at the very best. And that's not a guarantee.

I'd rather amnesty him and get it out of the way while avoiding having to have him on the team for an extended period of time.

So, now that the Dwightmare has ended, you guys still adamant about not blowing up the team and looking at the 2014 draft?

Please, let's blow this up.

Scraping the bottom of the free agency barrel to add to an injured core of Nash/Kobe/Pau under an incompetent coach ... :hurl:

We have a LOT of work to do, I do not envy Mitch right now. Players under contract,

Nash, Blake, Kobe, Meeks, MWP, Hill, Pau. Sacre has an offer, probably takes it, Ryan Kelly probably makes the team now. That's 9 players and a s*** team. :man10: If I'm Mitch I try to trade Pau AND Nash and get this rebuilding started, this team is going nowhere, no matter who we sign with minimum contracts and the mini-MLE.

I'd go in full tank mode. Amnesty Metta because no one will want him. Trade Nash for a late first round or 2nd round pick. Trade Pau for an unprotected first round pick. Have Kobe sit out for a year to recover.
