That's 9 players and a s*** team. :man10: If I'm Mitch I try to trade Pau AND Nash and get this rebuilding started, this team is going nowhere, no matter who we sign with minimum contracts and the mini-MLE.

I'd go in full tank mode. Amnesty Metta because no one will want him. Trade Nash for a late first round or 2nd round pick. Trade Pau for an unprotected first round pick. Have Kobe sit out for a year to recover.

Ok, you do this and who is on our roster? We still have to put a team on the floor, we can't go in full tank mode and literally run with like 8 guys, you have to have at least 12 players. Are you suggesting we just sign a bunch of one year minimum garbage players or d-leaguers? I don't think so. Also, who's giving us an unprotected first round pick for Pau, I don't see it. I think we can actually get some picks AND decent role players for Nash and Pau. I would still amnesty MWP though, want him gone.

Trade Pau to Minny and a third team to get an unprotected first round pick.

The Lakers should put everything and everyone on the table, looking for the assets necessary for a proper rebuild. BK

I agree, it's time. Sucks for Kobe though.

it's time to rebuild. now comes the biggest test for the front office to exercise their creativity and saavy and plan for post-kobe era. personally, i don't feel very confident and can easily see somewhere around 3-4 years of mediocrity.

Re-build era is gonna look brutal. I know thinking we can get LeBron is a lost cause because he just won his second title, so I think he'll be content in South Beach. I'm still gonna support my team this up and coming season but it's gonna be some hard to watch.

so we gonna go after Ellis now? if so, Mike would be happy to have his "small ball" lineup. we got work to do tho. we have nobody.

Would be pretty funny if Drew comes back for the mini mle.. He's always had a chip on his shoulder about Dwight being talked about as the unquestioned best C in the league.. Come back & take the challenge that Dwight backed down from Drew.

Obviously, Jim Buss has spurned every opportunity to involve Phil in Lakers basketball operations. Interesting to see what Jim has in mind.

I'm worried, I don't think Jim had a plan B, I think he was all in on Dwight like a fool and he gambled and lost. Now we scrape the bottom of the free agent barrel in order to have the required amount of players needed for a team.

great Copland taken. we seriously got screwed by Dwight. not just bc he left but bc we waited and couldn't sign other players who made the right choice in not waiting bc of financial stability. this sucks. we're gonna be stuck with the same roster as last year but older and without our most athletic players Clark and Dwight and even Morris

Hope we sign someone big like Ellis and move Kobe to the 3 and metta to the 4 (like Dantoni loves) and maybe sign Kenyon as backup PF and an athletic backup 3. after that ill be happy.

I disagree. Jim and Mitch are actually really good at personnel movement and that's not something I'm so much worried about.

I'm worried because they obviously didn't do all they could to keep Dwight, like firing 'Antoni. I also agree with his latest one

Damage is to the Lakers' image as a franchise that attracts+keeps top talent. Dr. Buss always maintained that. Jim lost it in short order

I'm inclined to think that, like a lot of Laker fans, they KNOW they didn't do anything to actually keep Howard. I don't think they WANTED to keep Howard. I think Howard was their Plan B with Chris Paul BECAUSE Paul is a real leader and a real Plan A. I think they pulled for Howard ANYWAY because he was better than Bynum (and Bynum's knees were shot) and I think they hoped he COULD be a Plan A.

If Dwight re-signed after this hardball pitch, then I think the Lakers change their stance on Dwight's personality. But I think otherwise that the Lakers didn't do all they could because they know Dwight isn't the main guy to lead us to the promise land.

Remember: we got Chris FIRST. Dwight was always our Plan B guy.

That's what scares me the most about this team

You might be right real, Kevin Ding just said this

KEVIN DING ‏@KevinDing 8m

Part of being a fan is ardent rooting vs. others. Don't believe Lakers PR rhetoric recently: Lakers felt disappointed by Dwight last season.

Also, one more from Lazenby

Roland Lazenby ‏@lazenby 2m

I'm pointing out things, but I'm not attacking Jim Buss. He could well have a plan. Has done good things. Been thru a tough year. But...

Trade Nash for cap space. Maybe Dallas takes him with their cap space?
Trade Gasol for Okafor, Seraphin, future picks.
Amnesty World Peace.
Have Kobe sit out for a majority of the year. Tank for a top 5 pick.
Then in 2014, if Kobe takes a paycut (down to 12-15M/year), and we land a top 5 pick, we can surround them with quality FAs.

C - Emeka Okafor
PF - Jordan Hill
SF - ?
SG - Jodie Meeks
PG - Steve Blake

With that starting 5 for a majority of the season, that HAS to be a bottom 5 team doesn't it?
