if we're trying to tank instead of signing someone we should just play Shawne Williams 48min per game

Lakers would like to get under luxury tax. If you crunch the numbers, easy to see why waiving Williams was necessary.

I wonder who is next?

1.) Kaman
2.) Pau
3.) Meeks
4.) Blake
5.) Nash

That would be my order.

I'd guess we could at least get a 2nd Round pick for those guys... Right? I mean Philly doesn't even have enough money on the books to avoid penalty, let's send them our crap for a 2nd rounder. Even if it's a future pick.

How about signing a back up PG to a 10 day contract? Giving 10 day contracts started yesterday.

Well it's been reported the entire time that Bynum wanted to join the Heat or Clips after he's cut, so obviously they need to free up a roster spot just incase.

Not surprising their trying to save more money; they've been doing so since 2011 when they tried to trade for CP3; that deal alone could have saved them 40 million dollars. Then they dumped Walton and Fisher. Last year, they tried to swing for the fences and have that enormous payroll; that didn't work out. They amnestied Metta during the summer as another cost-cutting maneuver. They almost dumped Pau and saved over 20 million dollars; besides last year, Our MO has been to preserve our financial flexibility for 2014. I don't know who's coming next but my guess would be Kaman.

Former Lottery Pick, Ike Diogu Could Draw Interest From The Lakers

Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS 25m

Ike Diogu playing well here at D-League Showcase. League sources say he could draw interest from Lakers, Clippers, Hornets and Thunder.

^ More Ryan Kelly I think. They want to develop him to be a knockdown shooter. He could prove valuable in the future if he stays healthy and works on his game.

Agreed and to be honest, we have most the tertiary components of a championship: 6th man, shooters, athleticism, size, veteran experience.

I like what Kelly brings to the table. If he can develop into Ryan Anderson type, we hit the lottery. Shooting ability is huge.

Now, if only we could get plug the other holes: superstar talent, championship coach, toughness, defense, rebounding.

According to Mike Bresnahan, Lakers won't add Hedo.

They want to maintain roster flexibility and will not add free-agent forward Hedo Turkoglu because they think his skills are declining.

Brad Townsend @townbrad
Someone just asked former Maverick Chris Kaman why he hasn't played tonight. "I don't know," Kaman shrugged. "Same (bleep), new city."

This sounds like a frustrated Kaman, to me... how does MDA have the nerve to play Sacre over Kaman? Kaman actually accomplished something in this league and still is a nice offensive player.... I really hope the Lakers trade Kaman...

Ben Gordon looking to be traded for someone that can help the Bobcats get into the playoffs this year. I wonder if they would be willing to give up a 1st rounder for Pau to do that.

Pau for Gordon / Biyombo / 1st

Saves us 3 million dollars, we get a young prospect and we get a 1st.

Charlotte also has 3 1st round picks this year, so come deadline they might be willing to use a pick to get Pau.

They are currently 7th and I think Walker/Henderson/MKG/Pau/Jefferson could definitely make the playoffs.

Charlotte only has 2 1st rounds.

1 comes from Portland, which will end up being a late 1st round (20+) pick.

1 from Detroit protected 1-8.

Unless, they can trade the protected part of their 2014 1st round pick they owe Chicago.

But I would still do it.

This is my single largest problem with Phony. This season is a wash. It's going to end up as a a season that set up our future. The one thing MDA's system does is inflate stats and we've already seen that a bit so I accept him for that reason. But, he always finds that guy who he just throws on the bench for no rhyme or reason.

I'm sure it frustrates Mitch AND Jim as they have sunken a good $3MM into Kaman thinking he'd really be a important piece.

I would be surprised if he is still around by the end of this summer...

You're right. I didn't see they owe CHI their 1st rounder. They will definitely want to keep the Detroit pick, but I would happy to get Portland's 1st for this year.

Sources: Kings Offer Marcus Thornton or Jimmer Fredette for Andre Miller

Image

Ken Berger
NBA Insider

RENO, Nev. -- The Kings continue to be the most aggressive potential suitor for the Nuggets' Andre Miller, offering three separate potential deals for the disgruntled point guard, league sources told CBSSports.com.

The Kings have offered Marcus Thornton and a future second-round pick as the framework of a deal for Miller, and have presented a package including Jimmer Fredette and a future second as an alternative, two people familiar with the scenarios said Wednesday. Those people familiar with the terms of those offers did not know the third scenario presented by Sacramento, but executives gathered here for the D-League Showcase surmised that it likely involves forward Jason Thompson.

Executives scouting the development league event suspect that the Kings are now showcasing Thornton, who has moved ahead of first-round pick Ben McLemore in Sacramento's starting lineup. The Kings would have to furnish another player in a potential deal involving Fredette to make the trade work under NBA rules.

The Nuggets suspended Miller two games after the 37-year-old point guard confronted coach Brian Shaw over his benching in a 114-102 loss to Philadelphia on Jan. 1. The team subsequently lifted the suspension but excused Miller from team activities. In the days since, Nuggets GM Tim Connelly has begun exploring trade options for Miller, who makes $5 million this season with a fully non-guaranteed $4.625 million due next season.
