What is the up to date roster look like now? Who's signed for next season and beyond? By the way i've been a member for a real long time here and the veterans will know me, just haven't posted anything in a long time but I still visit the site on a daily basis.

Don't we have qualifying offers or something for Kelly and Marshall, too?

In a related note, I hope we re-sign X Henry and maybe Wes Johnson as well. I really like X, and while I had some issues with Johnson, I think he might be able to develop under a defensive minded coach like Byron Scott, and if he played his natural position at the 3 I think he would do a lot better than last year when he kept being played as a 4.

Both of these guys should be dirt cheap and could help fill out our roster and could improve under the right tutelage.

Marshall's contract isn't guaranteed yet and yes we have a QO on Kelly.

I'll add Marshall to the list though.

Randle actually has a 5 year deal. He and Swaggy, and probably Lin, will be here a long time :man9:

Kind of hope we keep them both - they are young and cheap and could develop just like X and possibly Johnson.

Marshall will be back I'm sure. We have a team option for less than 1 million on him. He's actually one of the best players on our team when you grade on a production/salary ratio. A very solid backup pg for less than one million? He'll be back. We are better at pg than we have been since Nick Van Exel. The problem is every where else. :man10:

Definitely. In some ways I'm more intrigued by Kelly than any of the players we have left on our old roster. He improved greatly from the start to the end of the season. I'd love to bring back Kelly and Henry. I was the biggest Johnson fan before the season, but I'm not sure he's going to grow. He doesn't seem to have the head for it. I'd still take him back for sure though because he has a little rapport with Kobe and, make no mistake, the guy is a great athlete. We can always use athletes.

We need another big that can work as C/PF. I'd MUCH prefer a young guy to an older retread like JO or Nazr. I'd sign Marshall and Kelly. I'd play Clarkson behind Kobe as a combo guard.

PG - Lin / Marshall / (Nash)
SG - Kobe / Clarkson
SF - X / Nick (6th man)
PF - Randle / Kelly / ?
C - JHill / Sacre / ?
I'm lost in the fog of denial!

Anyone else think we should try Clarkson at the 2 to start and shift Kobe to 3? Or am I being way too premature...

Too premature. I'd rather he come off the bench and be a change of pace guard.

Dude's played 2 summer league games, we haven't even seen him in preseason in a real NBA setting. I'm not even considering him starting right now, even backup 2 is a leap for me even if a possibility.

I like Wes as the starter at SF with Swaggy as his backup.. Our starters need any defensive help they can get.

I think with Kobe/Young/Clarkson we are pretty set there as well.

Marshall and Kelly for sure, that brings the roster to 11. Then one more cheap PG, one more cheap big, one more cheap SF. That brings roster to 14 and covers for some injury backup.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I think Doc pointed it out yesterday...Brandon Rush. Cheap, but can play SF...worth a shot. I'd taka flyer on him. Bigs? Elton Brand, Mohammed, Okafor???

Bazemore is what Rush use to be, athletic wing with a decent J. A shame we dropped his qualifying offer just so we purse the impossible dream with Melo and as if that extra million was gona push Melo one way or the other. :bang: What happened to Rush in Utah anyways? I never saw him play much for them if at all.

I'd go for Brand and Okafor. Remaining space on one, Room exception on the other.

I'm really feeling Okafor, Mohammed, and Patric Young for some depth.

I sure hope the Lakers are taking a harder look at Young than they are the crappy bigs we brought in. He's a 4 year player with an NBA body that I'm sure now didn't get drafted because he played 4 years. The NBA is totally backwards in that way now.
