Hey, anyone else think he's basically Madsen 2.0?

He seems to have more game than just the three ball, but it's too bad he isn't playing in summer league.

He somehow reminds me of Radman.

Not a huge deal, especially for a 2nd round pick, but man it seemed he was almost ready to play. Not great news to hear 6 weeks to even running and jumping now.

@Lakers: INJURY UPDATE: http://t.co/615wajM4SK @RyanKelly34 had a CT scan today & is a minimum of 6 weeks from being cleared for running and jumping.

Lakers forward Ryan Kelly had his right foot examined on Monday. The examination was performed by Dr. Kenneth Jung, a foot specialist of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.

The diagnosis from the CT scan was that Kelly is a minimum of 6 weeks from being cleared for running and jumping.

Kelly underwent surgery on his right foot on April 9th, 2013. He was drafted with the 48th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Lakers after spending 4 years at Duke.

I just hope he's ready for training camp as we need to see what he can do at the NBA level before we sign him.

Wow that's pretty annoying...

We were told over and over again that he would be over this thing fairly quickly. This is frustrating.

^ Just as long as I don't read the "two weeks away" line, it'll be fine. There's been no bigger line of horse dung in the past decade than the use of that line by the medical staff.

dont think he's gona make the team, just my honest opinion....I know we waited on Ronny but this is a leg issue bothered him all throughout his last college season and now its even longer then expected, he wasn't much of an athlete before but this kinda injury who knows what its done to him, look at what Mihm ankle injury did to him.

Agreed. The next report I hear better say "one week away".

I mean, we drafted him injured. He has game, but that's already a red flag.

Here's a video of Kelly that I liked. I'm at work, so I can't hear the audio on this, but it shows some rehab work.

Still say he reminds me of Space Cadet. He has a similar size, foot speed, and sneaky athleticism ala Vlad Rad. He should watch some tapes of him on the 08 team, just hit his shots, use his length, and he would have a place on the team. Who knows? They may think highly of him if they know where his rehab is at and not get a vet PF, and let him and CDR fill out spots 12 and 13 on the roster for the year since you can suit up 13 nowadays.

I see Meeks, Kelly, Sacre, and maybe CDR all playing spot minutes anyhow and Pringles running the main 9 with some small ball with Wes at the 4, unless if LO comes here

no way, Kelly makes Vlad look like a speed demon, this guy has like a snail pace to his game, even his highlights he looks slow.

^ Glad I wasn't the only one to notice he isn't the fastest guy out there lol.

His footwork is pretty good though, which makes his speed deceptive, much like how Paul Pierce somehow gets around people, even though he's one of the slowest SF's in the league.

His shot is decent, he does weird things with his hands after he shoots (did no one teach him to follow the ball after shooting?), thinking he's Dirk or something. :man10:

What a dork. Also, if his ankle is so messed up, should he be carrying bags. :mad1:

^It's apart of the rehab process...I'm curious to see what he provides to this team when healthy, if his skills translate to the NBA level, how his foot holds up, etc. I think he could be a decent piece going forward...

I'm hoping for Channing Frye reincarnated. That's a good ceiling for him IMO.

Carrying the older players bags is part of the rehab process? :man10:

Since when is that an approved rehab method?
