All Rookie 1st Team: Michael Carter-Williams, Victor Oladipo, Trey Burke, Mason Plumlee, Tim Hardaway Jr.
All Rookie 2nd Team: Kelly Olynyk, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Cody Zeller, Steven Adams, Gorgui Dieng.

Gorgui Dieng? Get out of here with that! Antetokounmpo? Please!

Kelly deserved a nod here.

Sweet! I like Ryan a lot and can't wait to see him after he has a full summer to work on his game. Coming out of college and pre-season for us he couldn't do that, practice or play. Wow at the sequence starting at 1:00. He has some definite ball handling & other needed skills for a big man, and is not a "skinny, wimpy white guy". :man12: He's definitely got a tough edge to him and as he gets stronger has a nice potential to his future.

Speaking of Bigs and front court players, what is our situation with Kelly? Are we in danger of someone else offering too much or at least can we match if it's not terribly too much? I want him back and can't wait to see him after having a whole summer to work on his game and strength. He's got an attitude and is a decent defender. Smart player. Developed toward end a few back to basket offensive attempts, crossovers and driving to the hole. Maybe some sets he could even play with Randle (?) but certainly offers a nice change up when these guys sub for one another.

No news yet. We have 3 days to pick up his option I think? Or make him a RFA this summer. I don't see why we wouldn't make him a RFA and give us an opportunity to match offers on him. Kelly would be a great backup to Randle as long as we had a guy with more experience as our backup Center.

Kelly offers a completely different skill set than Randle, but is still very talented in his own right. He showed a lot of growth last season and a lot of heart. I'd love him back.

I would think he could be re-signed for pretty cheap. He had a solid year, but he wasn't fantastic or anything and we were an awful team. I'm not sure how much stock other teams will put into how he performed this season on an awful team.

I like the move, I hope he takes the offer and stays, he showed enough to be worth a look for at least one more season.

After a slow start as he recovered from April 2013 foot surgery, Kelly become a regular contributor this season, averaging 8.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks a game after the All-Star break.

If we could get this type of production from him the entire year, it would be a huge boost.

Are there any teams that would offer him a starting spot at the 4? Hopefully not, and not more money than Lakers are willing to go. I wonder how much they offered him?

I remember him really surprising people late in the year with his length and decent athleticism. 1.1 blocks per game is nothing to sneeze at. I'll take that forever.

How many minutes per game was he playing with those numbers?

He was getting better as the season wore on.... not many Lakers you can say that about last year....

That's a perfect role player/bench option right there. I'd absolutely love having him back. One of the few young bright spots of the year.

I thought Ryan was one of the absolute steals of the draft. I would love to have him back and watch him continue to contribute and improve. It wasn't just his numbers, he showed a high b-ball IQ and was one of coach K's favorite "students." Yep, players like Kelly don't just fall into your lap every season. I hope he returns without asking for an unreasonable salary. I would expect other teams to express serious interest.

They really need him back. Pay him like a 2nd choice in the latter part of the 1st round this year. He has that much size and game. Do not let him get snatched. That would piss me off as much as any of the other bad decisions from the FO in past couple years. (aside from coaches hired) He's going to be a decent team defender and maybe not horrible 1 on 1 defender. With strength added, which no doubt he will, he should be able to board better. Big PLUS on the offensive side of the floor. We lose him and we also get smaller again, even with Dan gone, and then have to go looking for some other decently "skilled" big guy. Keep what they already scored and found in him.

That was a heck of a pick by Mitch ... don't let him get away, he could develop into a role player for a contender. Somebody who comes off the bench, shoots, blocks, rebounds, gets up and down the floor, has high b-ball IQ, I'm very good with that. Don't. Let. Him. Get. Away.
I shall be telling this with a sigh

I took the one less traveled by,

R Kelly is a good young role player. We should definitely re-sign him. He can only get better with experience. He does a little bit of everything, similar to what Luke did, but he is bigger, more athletic, with a higher ceiling. A player coach Pop would like for sure.

Ryan Kelly will likely reach deal soon w/ Lakers. Lakers like Xavier Henry, but no deal is imminent. Lakers unlikely to keep Wesley Johnson

He was pretty decent last year. I hope we get him without overpaying.

I'm a bigger fan of X. I hope he stays healthy this year, and we get him for cheap.

Both of these guys are on the rookie scale, so a million and change sounds about right.

I like Ryan a lot. Hopefully he's back on a low deal and can provide basically the opposite of what Randle does from the PF spot.

Randle comes in and bullies everybody around, then Kelly comes in and stretches the floor. I like it.
