In his year in NJ he showed what he can do handling the ball. That alone makes him yards better than Meeks.

For what it's worth, Vujacic did play point in Europe prior to coming over. Jackson had plans for him to play at the 1 prior to the 2011 season or it was discussed between them during his exit interview.

Being realistic, obviously Sasha isn't a star or the TOP free agent you want, but with what we have to offer we don't seem to have the money to get the top guys we want, who are going for over the mini-MLE. Comparing Meeks to Sasha, I'd rather have Sasha, and like trodgers said, I can't think of a thing Meeks does better than Sasha. Sasha was not a fantastic PG, but he certainly wasn't a turnover machine either, as far as I remember he could take care of the ball fairly well. Meeks can't even put the damn ball on the floor without losing it or going instantly out of control, if he doesn't catch and shoot you're screaming at the tv for him to stop.

Anyone think that maybe this is so Phil can easily implement the triangle? Sasha knows the triangle and could help with a transition ... food for thought!

I wouldn't mind the Machine back in the fold. Fiesty defender, hustle occasional shot maker. Plus with Kobe maybe out the first part of the season, he'd be a good cheap option. Plus It'd be funny to hear Jeff Van Gundy try to pronounce his name again.

Agree that Vujacic IS an upgrade over Meeks. Actually, I'm more confident him shooting the ball over Meeks.

if there's one guy i wish we could get back for the bench it would be shannon

yes he got a little shot happy during the end of his lakers tenure but he's the type of guy who would fit well under dantoni

At least Sasha plays within the system... Brown thinks he's Kobe, a lot more frustrating..

I think I was one of the biggest Sasha supporters on this site back in the day. I loved his energy, hustle, and especially the fact that he BLED purple and gold. I will never forget the free throws he hit in Game 7, but I will also never forget the way he let Ray Allen blow by him in 2008. He played very pesky defense, but if his man was patient enough, he wasn't very difficult to beat off the dribble. His shot was streaky and I remember him going a long stretch when he couldn't hit anything.

I'd probably give him a chance at the minimum, but I'd be hesitant about it.

Bring back the Machine :jam2:

He was one of my favorite Lakers and I was bummed to see him get traded.

Considering this offseason market , it is most likely Sasha type of players will be the only ones we can sign

Both Meeks and Sasha are "3 pt shooters" who don't consistently hit 3's. Sasha is probably bigger and he tries harder on defense
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

I don't agree with that. Meeks tries REALLY hard on defense, he just kind of sucks at it.

The way shooters are being paid in free agency right now, Sasha might be the best we can do. We might be lucky to do that good actually. :man10:

Well, you're right. I phrased that incorrectly, I don't give Meeks justice by saying that. He tries very hard. But Sasha tries just as hard, and is definitely a peskier defender than Meeks IMO.

True. I think it's because Sasha is just bigger than Meeks.

If D12 stays, why not? Hire anybody with anything that looks like a 3 point shot, stack the bench and roll the dice. SHOWTIME!
