It's just his opinion. If you're doing something and don't want to be (one of) the best at it...why are you doing it?

It's very immature and disrespectful to IMO the greatest center of all time, but it's Shaq so I'd expect it.

During Dr. Buss memorial, Abdul-Jabbar spoke about all the Laker players that Buss demanded and got the best out of...he notably left O'Neal out mentioning only Bryant of the new generation.
Nor can the Lakers get blamed for always making the right decisions over decades. At some point its not just luck or "gamble", its superior management and superior ownership.

And rightfully so.....

Shaq has the most raw physical talent of the group but his attitude toward getting better held him back. The "company time" fiasco and the coming in fat every year are proof enough that he wasn't dedicated at the same level as Kareem..... It's obvious to those of us who watched both play and that's why he has to try and revise history with his little quips.

I think Shaq is a tad insecure which is why he makes his little underhanded comments towards certain Laker legends.

Is he disrespecting them?

Of course he is. Unfortunately for Shaq, he was not as good as Kareem.

Cap was a consummate professional for 20 years. Shaq only got his ish together for a couple if years. Kobe saved his butt the last half of the three-peat.

ESPN Classic has been showing a bunch of LA stuff from 1984 to 1988 in the last week, so I've been watching. Kareem was unbelievably good. At everything. He also seems like an incredibly down to earth, wise, and generous guy. Maybe the younger generation (Shaq, Bynum, Dwight, e.g.) cares too much about flash and sizzle to take the guy's lessons to heart.
