Payton, meanwhile, appeared on the ESPY Awards on Wednesday already wearing a No.20 Lakers jersey. Payton actually didn't get that jersey from the Lakers; he got it from longtime friend Brian Shaw, who wore No.20 for the Lakers the past four seasons.

wow, that's really humble and big of Shaw to lend Payton his jersey after getting waived. We will miss you Brian!

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

If you read the rest of the article, it says something about if Shaw coming back, Pargo leaving...I personally love Shaw, but at the expense of Pargo...um I would have to pass....however it did say someting about him wanting to be a coach, and if he takes on the role that Avery Johnson did for the Mavericks, then I'm all for it.

How come Shaw didn't give GP his real jersey, instead of some swingman jersey? :man3:

Brian has hit some big shots for us, but he is old and he'll do better as an assistant.
