It's only a number on a jersey ffs......

Karl Malone is also a legend, so it is okay by me. If it was some young up and commer that wanted the Magic Man's # it would be a different story, but I think Malone is worthy.....

Malone should make a name for himself with whatever number he chooses as a Laker. Even though Magic said it's ok for him to wear his number, I dont think he should take him up on that offer.

He wore this number for 18 years as player ...
If Magic accepts, so why not.

Malone said that he want to wear it in honor to Magic

I dont see the problem with it, its not like Malone is a scrub. He has had that number for 18 years, took a big pay cut to come play in LA and is willing to do whatever the team needs him to do to win a championship. I think wearing number 32 is no big deal if Magic is ok with it. Magic is my favorite player of all time and no one can be him but he can be honored if Malone does well with the number. Now if Walker wanted to wear that number..................lol

I agree that there is no problem with it. If Magic is OK with it than thats all that matters. It's actually Honoring Magic in a way. Malone came out and openley opposed playing against Magic when magic first announced he has AIDS. This would be Malones way of letting Magic know he still has alot od Love and Respect for the guy. Besides it was Magic's decision to unretire his number and allow Malone to wear it. What right does anyone else have to say it's wrong.

Yes, I think this way for two reasons.

1. If the person who retired the jersey (Magic) sais it is ok, why should anyone else think differently?

2. For Malone to take a 17 million dollar paycut to win, give him the f'n jersey, how much does that cost? Magic knows what's up, he knows we want to win...

I have no problem with MALONE borrowing the number especially now that he will be playing alongside SHAQ KOBE PAYTON when we do battle against the DUNCRAPS/GARNETTS/WEBBERS/WALLACES'

I'm all for it.... and the MAILMAN WILL DELIVER!!!! ( help us deliver the RING!!!)

I dont really have a problem, but the jersey was retired for a reason, and that one reason was because of the legacy that Magic represented while wearing that number. Even though Magic says its aight for Malone to wear the number, I dont think he should. Sure Malone is takin a pay cut, but in return he's gettin the opportunity to have a championship.

I don't see a problem at all. If Magic agree (I have heard it was Magic's idea) then that's great. Malone is a great player and finally it's just a detail. I am a lot more concerned with Kobe's problem............

The thing is, Malone knows he's not wearing his number on the Laker squad, he's wearing Magic's number. Listen to his interviews, that's pretty much what he sais about it.

I don't like it. Bottom line is that it's Magic's number, who he want's to wear it is his choice. It's just that, #32 Lakers = Magic, #33 Celtics = Bird, #23 Bulls = Jordan, PERIOD. If I was Malone, I would wear Stocktons number. Honor Magic fine, but do it by leaving the number hang in the rafters where other great numbers hang. Stockton will not get a chance for a title, and if Malone wore John's number, in a way it would be a tribute to the both of them. The back of the jersey would be in Lakers colors, say Malone, and have #12. I think that would be an awesome site.
Buckle up! This off season is going to be some ride...

NOPE...........THAT IS ONE OF THOSE THINGS YOU SAY BUT DONT REALLY MEAN..........IF I WEAR MY MAGIC THROWBACK, PEOPLE WHO DONT SEE THE BACK ARE GOING TO THINK ITS A MALONE JERSEY.........THAT IS WACK............MALONE DOSENT EVEN HAVE THE RIGHT TO ASK...........THATS GARBAGE..............
COME ON....IF WILLIE MAYS DIDNT LET HIS GOD SON WEAR 24 (BARRY BONDS) MALONE IS OUT OF HIS MIND IF HE WEARS IT...........WHAT ARE WE GONNA TAKE IT OFF THE BUILDING NEXT YEAR AND THEN PUT IT BACK UP MALONE/JOHNSON.......NO

I dont think Malone asked, I think that the media gave the idea to Magic since Malone has always been number 32. But wussup with Shaq? He used to number 32, so how come he had to change his number?? Malone can't wear Stockton's number, Pargo has 12 already.

I agree, if Malone asked, that suck because it's disrespect. But since Magic seems to have made the proposal...
I think Shaq was a different story. At that time he hasn't proved (almost) anything. Malone has never won a title but he is a great player, he will beat jabbar's record (as a Lakers!!!!!!!!! yeaaahhhh baby yeahhhh) and most of all Magic probably said that to convince him to come. So I would prefer seeing Malone with Magic's number than no Malone at all :man10:

I think it would be more reasonable for Pargo to change his number, then to bring the #32 down from the rafters where it belongs. Malone wearing #12 is tight.

Retired means retired, it's that simple. Even if Magic says it's cool with him for Karl to wear it, it is still disrespectfull to the entire Lakers organizationa nd the NBA as a whole to weare a retired number. I don't care who you are, you have to respect your team and your sport. I hope Malone shows some class and plays with a new number this season.

If you are exited about someone wearing Magics number you have no respect for the history of the game and niether does Karl if he wears it #12 would be a far better jesture......Pargo is not even wearing 12 in the summer league he must not care that much about the number
