Should MDA be fired?

Yes, he ran Kobe to the ground. Coaches need to control the player's minutes.

No, its not his fault. He was just respecting Kobe's will.

Mitch also said "Don't expect any blockbuster trades" last off-season :man9:

Hear, hear?

Anyway, maybe we should lock this thread? I think the majority of the forum thinks he should be fired (for various reasons), but he probably won't be fired; at least not this (off)season. Source: Mitch.

Maybe all new MDA discussion should go to his thread, I don't know? What do you guys think?

Depends on who the replacement coach will be. If it's not going to be Phil, then just stick with MDA. I'd rather the team focus on improving the roster which is the real problem.

Mike Bresnahan ‏@Mike_Bresnahan

If Cleveland hires Mike Brown, as per @WojYahooNBA, Lakers almost surely off the hook for $6 million they owe Brown over next 2 yrs.
Ah, women. They make the highs higher and the lows more frequent.

- We gotta be 100% sure Phil wants back if we gotta fire MDA
- Also a chance that Phil sticks it to us after MDA is fired.

I'm 999999% for Phil coming back, but I don't think that's the only option.

As someone here said a while back, at some point we need to move on from Phil. He's not gonna be around forever. That being said, if he's available for 2 years lets hop on it.

alternatives: Sloan, Shaw, JVG, Adelman?, Scott, Larry Brown?

Cleveland hired Mike Brown for a 2nd term

http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2013/04/cleveland_cavaliers_hire_mike.html

I am down on my knees to pray for Phil to come back for a 3rd term with the Lakers.

Wow. That is huge news concerning Brown. That gives us more flexibility going forward if we want to make a change at the HC position.

Well Woj included this in his write up:

It is immediately unclear if the Lakers, who owed Brown $8 million on his contract buyout, will still have to pay Brown once his agreement with the Cavaliers is complete.

I really would find it strange if the Lakers didn't have to pay...I mean, they're the ones that hired him to a 4 year deal and agreed to buy him out at a reduced rate.

On a side note, 5 yr 20M for Brown...wow!

All kidding aside, you can see that PJ really itching for another come back: He ordered his agent to take a red-eye from NY to LA for a possible contract signing, only to have Jimmy pull a fast one on him!

In the end, I think he owe Kobe and Kobe owe him another chance at greatness!!!
Now if only Jimmy boy just swallow it and let it happens!!!!

Yeah that doesn't sound right...the only comparison i can draw is Larry Brown when he went and coached the Knicks and then they fired him and then he went and coached the Bobcats....did the Knicks still have to pay him?

IF this is true regarding MB, this is HUGE news and it actually opens the door for MDA to be fired.

I am all for firing MDA, if we can get Phil. But if we will not, or can not get the Zen Master, then MDA might as well stay.

If Mike Brown is hired by Cleveland and the Lakers no longer have to pay him, the answer to this thread title goes from IMO yes to yes immediately following the playoffs. I disagree it's only if we get Phil also, there are plenty of better coaches out there than 'Antoni.

I really hope this does influence what we owe Brown. I'm no coaching expert but I hope we took that into consideration when buying him out or whatever. Roster improvements are a must but this team underachieved with MDA, despite the injuries.

I don't think Phil is up for a coaching gig anymore, but there are plenty of coaches out there that could do this team right. I hope we pick one of them up because coming back with MDA is like taking two steps forward, one step back.

Rest assured, it's gonna be a coach who can utilize D12 best AND someone that D12 will give the OK to.
