Should MDA be fired?

Yes, he ran Kobe to the ground. Coaches need to control the player's minutes.

No, its not his fault. He was just respecting Kobe's will.

I honestly think Howard will give the Lakers a choice behind closed doors. Either he gets a coach that can cater to his game or he is going to Houston. Houston's team is THE perfect fit for Howard's skill set and he would be coached by one of, if not greatest post of players in NBA history. McHale will coach the crap out of Howard in the post and Howard would have a perimeter Stud to compliment his game to boot.

Houston is in Texas so that means no state income and Houston is the 4th largest market in the nation. So, saying he wouldn't leave LA is ignorant. He could essentially get the same money, not as much headache of LA media, a YOUNG team to run with for the next 5 years and a coach and organization that is dying to have a big man over there.

As if there aren't enough reasons to want Phil, I was thinking earlier about Pop's comments that he'll retire when Duncan does.. If Phil came back & stayed more than 1 year, I think the odds of Kobe sticking around increase greatly. As long as he comes back fine from this injury & gets back to the level he was at this season, he still has much more than 1 season left. He could easily chase Kareem, hopefully on a contract that allows us to put another young allstar next to him & D12.

He came back to coach Kobe before we got Gasol, so yes. That said, I thought Jim Buss didn't like him, so it'll never happen.

It's a shame Sheshefski didn't want even a short stint in the NBA, especially for Kobe's last years. That alone should have been enough to jump on board.

at this point i wouldn't be shocked if jim buss hired mike dunleavy

that's how low our expectations have sunk in terms of who jim buss hires as head coach

Mitch was watching last night...he had that same look that he had when we were getting embarrassed in OKC

at this point, i dont really care who they bring in...just get rid of MDA for the simple fact that it would rid the stench of this season...i dont want that 'culture' to seep in and i want it gone by the time training camp opens

What is our purpose next year though?? If we're gonna open capspace and develop our young guys (Glock, Hill, Clark) just keep MDA. Its pointless to hire another coach. 2014 use the capspace to sign the big time free agents available and make use of the draft picks we do have.

Its pointless to get rid of people just for the sake of it.

We probably wont contend for a championship next year, just keep MDA. The big question is...will Dwight be ok with that and re-sign?

Yes he freaking did! A 90 minute sit down interview with Dumbleavy, but he didn't even bother to call Jerry Sloan, HOF coach, on the phone. Or Nate McMillan either for that matter.

And some people here still had the gall to tell to me calm down about how asininely this last hiring was run.

If we are looking to add big free agents when we have capspace, i would rather have a coach already in place before we start courting players. big free agents will want to see where the team is going/stability/etc. no coach or new coach (especially if it's not phil or another big name coach) may be a concern for free agents. also, it would be easier to only have a couple players adjusting to a new team, rather than a couple players AND a coach. otherwise we end up like this season where we get "not used to playing together/not used to the system" excuses all season.

Right now I truly believe Phil is the only one that could stabilise the team and the fans ... Having Phil it will give hope to our players like D12(if he stays) Kobe n Pau... :man6: tbh I actually prefer Brown over MDA... atleast he had some sort of system... unlike MDA we are a bunch of headless chickens on the court :bang: :bang:
