Yes, he ran Kobe to the ground. Coaches need to control the player's minutes.

Should MDA be fired?

Is Mike D'Antoni responsible for Kobe's injury?

No way to start a poll on other pre existing threads.

Thanks for reopening the thread.

Yes he should, but to be fair I thought he should be fired the day he was hired.

I want to know what Vitti told MDA after Kobe injured his other knee. If he told him that Kobe should sit, Pringles is gone.

I'll be fair and cast my vote the same way I would have if this poll was started before tonights game.

If an insider can tweet us what Vitti was telling MDA during that time, his twitter would explode.

I can bet my next paycheck that Vitti was telling MDA to take Kobe out.

Shouldn't have been hired to begin with. But after he was hired I was willing to give him a chance. What's done is done, no use fussing about what could have been. That's always my point of view. Wish the guy the best of luck and let's see what he can do.

Well, now we've seen what he can do. Yes, he should be fired. Tonight was just the last straw.

Yes, but I've had a personal vendetta against this guy since Day 1 and had remained skeptical about him. No surprise.

It should not take a player to tear his achilles for Antoni to be fired. He's just a piss poor coach. Always has been.

Are we blaming MDA again? This goes to the top. Promote Jeanie to run the entire franchise.

No matter how devastating it is to see Kobe injured like this (enormously so), I can't fully blame MDA or say he should be fired for this. It was Kobe who deemed it, and I quote, "necessary", and it was him who wanted to be out there, making sure he was givin his all in order to get to the playoffs. He wouldn't have it any other way, he wouldn't have been able to STAND the idea of potentially missing the playoffs because he'd been resting in some games.

Not saying MDA doesn't hold ANY of the blame, but regarding THIS particular (and devastating) problem, I don't think it's fair to put 100% of it on him.

His defensive "adjustments" should've gotten him fired though. And that (getting better defensively) would've led to Kobe playing less minutes...
"The first time I ever saw my uniform hanging in the locker I put it on right away, and it just felt like I was putting on golden armour. From that day forward, I just called it 'the golden armour', it just felt like there was something mystical and magical about it" - Kobe Bryant.

^^^

Antoni is the COACH. That's his job. To sit Kobe and manage his minutes. Antoni should know better, he played the game! No player will ever bench himself.

Some examples for you:

1. RG3 this year's playoffs. (Shanahan in hot fire for it. Still is.)
2. Pedro Martinez in the infamous Yankee comeback against the Sox. (Sox manger fired after the season.)

You don't ask the player if he's good to go. They'll always say hell yes. You are the freaking coach. Make the call.
