After reports that the Dallas Mavericks would be releasing Delonte West to make room on the 15-man roster for newly acquired Eddy Curry, Mark Cuban is now saying there hasn't been a decision made on West's future with the organization.

West has been suspended twice this preseason for conduct detrimental to the team. This was allegedly stemming from an incident in the locker room, in which West semi-cryptically took to Twitter to voice his frustrations. And with the Curry being claimed off waivers despite the Mavs already having 15 players under contract, it was speculated that West would be the odd man out.

Cuban says not so fast (via AP):

Cuban said he will make the final call on whether West could return to the Mavericks after he was suspended indefinitely Thursday for conduct detrimental to the team.

''The best way to sum it up is no decisions have been made one way or the other,'' Cuban said.

''There's been no decision to waive him or anything like that,'' Cuban said. ''It could go either way. I haven't made any decisions.''

At this point, something has to happen with the roster. Mavericks have 16 players with Curry and there are three players who would be the most likely candidates to leave. West, Brandan Wright, and Bernard James have contracts worth less than $1 million dollars. James' deal runs through 2015 but is only fully guaranteed this season.

Wright and West both have just this season on their contracts. Considering the Mavericks just claimed Curry because of a lack of depth inside, it's unlikely they'd turn around and get rid of Wright and James because of a numbers game. This makes West seemingly the odd man out.

Technically, they could just get rid of Curry like he never signed, but a lot of that decision probably would be based on the severity of Chris Kaman's injury. Kaman strained his Achilles, presumably prompting the Mavericks to find a replacement big man for the short term. If Kaman is healthy enough to play this coming week, the Mavericks could keep West and pretend this whole thing never happened.

Locking this until he is actually released. As of now he is still a Mav.
I'm lost in the fog of denial!

West might not fix our horrendous offense, but at least he can DEFEND and score from the back up PG position...GET HIM PLEASE????
The End is nigh. Time for a total Cut and Shuffle. Kobe contract was a mistake...time to avoid making more. The future is here, whether we want it to be or not. An era is over, but for the death rattle, and it's time for the cycle to begin anew. Growth and change are scary and painful, but alas...nothing worth achieving comes easily.

looking at Blake game last nite and Barbosa, I think its clear we need to take a chance on another Guard off the bench. Blake is just does nothing to create for others, yes he had 4 assist or whatevers but those came from the guy he passed it to doing mos to the work rather then Blake making plays for them. I can't believe even at this point he still "pump fakes" a 3, like really? somebody gona fall for your stupid tricks and even if they do its not like he goes anywhere with his driving ability :bang:

This needs to happen immediately....

Nash has sprained his ankle and got injured tonight....

We need to go out and get someone that can fill in if Nash has to miss time and Blake/Duhon aren't those guys.

i would rather have DFish than Nash the way he has been playing is horrendous. I know this new offense crap has got him confused with the ball out of his hands however he looks like he has lost a step even offensively. We need some athleticism and more depth and a new COACH

How serious is the injury? I heard it was the knee?

He sprained his ankle preseason and hurt his shin tonight. Just a contusion...

What I'm saying is that he's already suffered two injuries, I'd rather be safe then sorry.

We're lucky Nash's injury wasn't anything serious, but it showed us why we need to decrease his minutes. Again, we need to get West.

Something about Nash's injury didn't seem right. It seemed worse than a shin contusion, the way he was limping. I hope I am wrong. But it looked bad the way he tried but failed to play on it.

I don't really like him, but at this point I'd take him in a second, he's tough and he can score, we sorely lack both.

He's insane... and I'm sure he'd be trouble at some point, but Nash just got banged up again and I think we need some more insurance. Duhon looked like total garbage last night. Blake actually played alright, but I just hope that means he'll be more friendly in trade value.

Mabey, I don't know. Can't garentee it. If Brown likes his resamay, we might sign him; you never know.
