Start Darius Morris

I agree, I'd like to see the kid get at least some burn. Why not let him play a little off the bench. Can't do worse than Fish.

I thought the "Morris should be starting" thread was unrealistic, but him getting buried isn't right. I knew Brown was never going to start him, but he should at least get some development because we are so deficient in that department.

D-League hasn't started yet.

But with Drew back, Luke should be the one in a suit, and Morris should be dressed to play. We need to see what he can do, especially when Derek thinks he's some young, superstar PG.

^the dleague started on time even during the lockout. there were only 2 dfenders games since the nba season started and their next game isnt until the 4th.

For those saying he is not ready yet, can Morris really do any worse at this point than Fisher?

Take last night for example, the dribbling out the shot clock to take a fadeaway like he was Jordan or Kobe, the 1 on 4 Fisher transition break where he just barrels into the defender and throws up a prayer and screams, the ole defense. For every good thing Fish does, it seems to be followed by 3 awful plays.

Morris had one actual game to prove himself worthy of some PT and had 11 points, 3 boards, 3 assists on 5-9 shooting and looked every bit more athletic and youthful on the defensive end going against CP3, Mo and Billups. He played with no fear. Someone needs to get the balls to sit Fish. Hell Blake is a seasoned veteran playing better than Fish and Fish still gets the nod, even though Blake did close last nights game.

Blake has earned the starting PG role so far this season. Morris would be good with the second unit of Kapono, Barnes, McBobs and Bynum. He can get hook Kapono up with open 3's, dish it to Barnes and McBobs cutting to the hoop and run the pick and roll with Bynum and either pass or score.

Out of those options listed above, how many can Fish do. Maybe one if he feels like passing the ball to Kapono.

I think the kid is great and all but coach Brown won't play him much due to his inexperience with NBA guards on the defensive end. Fisher may be the slowest professional guard in the world but at least he brings confidence, strength, shooting, and leadership.

I'm also thinking of how much slower Blake and mostly Fisher are compared to him.

If Morris problem is outside shooting, I would say that none of westbrook, rondo are good 3pt shooters. I think even Paul was not great in that category. Jason Kidd and Magic were not good 3t shooters but they worked at it and improve it. Morris might not be great but he deserves to get his chance since we have 2 great PG playing before him.

Here are some examples of late draft pick PG's that were made starters their rookie seasons:

Van Exel (22-years old) - 33.3 mpg, 13.6 ppg, 5.8 apg, 39.4% FG, 33.8% 3PT, 78.1% FT
Jason Williams (23-years old) - 36.1 mpg, 12.8 ppg, 6.0 apg, 37.4% FG, 31.0% 3PT, 75.2% FT
Tony Parker (19-years old) - 29.4 mpg, 9.2 ppg, 4.3 apg, 41.9% FG, 32.3% 3PT, 67.5% FT

Morris is 21 and at the collegiate level was a way better passer/playmaker than those guys. If he were made starter right now and given 30-35 mpg, he could EASILY get 6 apg from all the easy baskets to Bynum, Pau, and Kobe. He probably wouldn't shoot very well, but I'll take that in exchange for his playmaking. And with his speed he couldn't be worse than Fisher on defense.

Morris isn't even active..... that means the coaching staff doesn't think he even needs to be available to to play. I don't see how we are any better with a one dimensional rookie starting at the point...

10 games into the season and Fish hasn't shown a glimmer of solid play. Tonight might have been his worst game yet. How much longer is MB going to keep riding this old warhorse before realizing he's ready for the gluepot?

Don't be so sure of that..... His only run in the pre-season he looked pretty overmatched to me. He threw in a few shots (and really threw a couple of them) but he couldn't create any separation from his man with the ball.....
