Man, it took that long to figure out that he needed surgery. I just don't get it.

Pretty easy to me to understand:

Blake and the Lakers thought he could heal and recover without needing surgery, but when it didn't heal after several weeks more test for taken and a specialist looked at it and recommended surgery. The Lakers has always just hoped it would heal on its own, unfortunately it didn't.

Wait it out, heal on it's own :man3: What the hell are we? Madagascar bingo team or Worlds best basketball franchise?

Im not saying it is... but talking to a specialist and taking more tests DEF IS! It's not the first time this ish happens with a Lakers player. Good thing Blake sucks but im starting to worry about the other Steve.

Guard Steve Blake will have laproscopic surgery Wednesday to repair a torn abdominal muscle, the team announced Monday. He is expected to miss a minimum of six to eight weeks, pushing his comeback to sometime in February.
“It’s a big concern for me,” Kobe Bryant said. “Steve and I have always played extremely well together. He’s a clutch shooter and a tough competitor. That’s one of the things I like about him, is his toughness.
“We’re going to miss him a lot. I’m not sure he’s going to be out, but it could be a while. … Hopefully he can keep his head in it and come back ready to go.”
Blake originally was diagnosed with an abdominal strain Nov. 12 and missed 10 games, but had returned to the court recently to work on free throw shooting. He sounded hopeful when asked last week about his recovery, saying that he thought the healing process was “going in the right direction.”
In seven games this season, he was averaging 5.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.29 steals in 26 minutes of play.
With starting point guard Steve Nash still sidelined because of a fractured left leg and Blake out, the Lakers have started Darius Morris at the point. Coach Mike D’Antoni said Monday he might try Chris Duhon in the starting spot Tuesday against Houston.
“There’s a chance. We’ll see. We’ll talk about it tomorrow. That’s nothing against Darius. He’s learning. He’s got to get better. But I could (start Duhon against the Rockets.)

he just said blake was a clutch shooter :man10:

Lakers staff seems to take the same approach with Nash injury ... they passed on doing a MRI a week ago ( why ?) ... Nash said there was " minor" improvment and sounded like coming back in 10 to 15 was pipe dream ... tomorrow it' ll be a 5 weeks injury

it's a blow, but not a huge one, as duhon can fill in as the backup until blake's ready to go. the key is still nash. duhon and blake are sort of a push for me, but either one is a reasonable backup. morris seems to be regressing after showing some promise.

And maybe to avoid having to go in and cut him, the specialists said to wait and see if it will heal on its own? How is that so hard to believe?

Oh, that's right, it doesn't fit the agenda of "the Lakers have a terrible training staff".....

Well, we all said that the biggest issue this season would be health and unfortunately we've been hampered in that department. I'm fine with Duhon as the main backup instead of Blake, though. I think he's played pretty well for us thus far.

I didn't know that Farmar was available. I would take him over Morris anyway, esp in this system. Duhon starting and Farmar off the bench would be great. Farmar can't defend well, not even close to Morris, but he is just as fast, sees the floor a little better, and scores much better - esp from 3 and finishing a break (remember that dunk on KG). I bet MDA could do wonders with him - since he can make guys pay for going under screens.

Sure, West would be ideal, but Farmar would be nice too.

It is always up to the player if they want surgery early on or wait it out. Last I heard it was a problem with his abdominal muscles, who would have thought that sort of injuries require surgery? I sure didn't, thought a few weeks rest should fix the problem...

IIRC, Shaq needed surgery on his abdominal muscles once.

who else wanted Fish to be the on to take that game winning shot in what game 3 was it? in the OKC series last year?

Sessions/Fish > Sessions/Blake

oh how i wished we had gotten rid of blake instead of fish.

but would fish really would have wanted to start over sessions if said scenario was there?

was that the main reason he was let go instead of blake? or was it financial issues. i mean it couldn't of been because Blake is a better defender or offensive player, because hes none of those.
