And btw, I doubt he starts, he fuels the bench in a way fisher couldn't, but he will play more than fisher.

I'll agree with this as many others have said too. I think it would work best this way.

Yep totally agree as well. I really do like Fisher starting and Blake with our bench. We have enough playmakers in the starting unit so all we really need from our PG at that time is a guy who knows his spots on the floor as well as a spot up shooter which we all know Fisher is. For our bench, we need someone who is able to play the more traditional PG role of being able to lead and control the pace, head our offense, and be able to run the fastbreak which are roles that suit Blake's abilities to a T.

All of us could see in the pre season that he was light years ahead of Farmar and warranted an appreciation thread even if it was pre season. Heck just by watching that scrimmage video of practice against the starters had us appreciating.

Now go and walk that fluffy pup of yours.

I dont reward people until they show their worth. When I made those statements Blake had done nothing but light up scrub teams in the preseason. I was right, this thread was premature.

Wow, game winning shot in his first game! Amazing...

With this guy hitting 3-pointers and Brown as well, we'll be doing well. Really need that 3-point threat and I think Blake and an improved Brown can really bring that all season, giving us even another dimension. Nice...

I'd be happy if they just split the minutes at 24 a piece. I could see that happening and I think as you said, that would benefit everyone.

Count me in with the keep Blake with the second unit. We have enough firepower and leadership with the first unit. Blake is an actual playmaker for our bench squad. Plus Fish wouldn't just work as well with the second team.

^agreed....Blake and Shannon is a much better fit than Kobe & Blake along with Fish & Shannon.

Kobe will have the ball in his hands anyway and we will run half court sets. Blake is much better off because he can set up the bench players who usually struggle to create shot for themselves.

Blake is such a professional. He knows his limits and plays within them. He only does what he can do and what he is supposed to do. He may be on the second unit but he will play starters minutes by the time the season is finished.

Phil already trusted Blake after 15 minutes more than he trusted Farmar after 4 years.

I'm glad and all, but what a slap in the face.

Umm, who is this a slap in the face to? The guy who elected to leave so that he could showcase his talents in NEW JERSEY? :man10: :man10: :man10:

And none of us can stress enough how great it is to have a pg who is reliable with the ball, who you trust with the ball, and who you don't feel a knot in your stomach when he's handling it running down the court. Last night he got the ball on an outlet started a fastbreak and a funny feeling happened in my stomach. Nothing. No nervousness, no anticipation of disaster. Just trust that the right decision was going to be made and something positive was going to happen.

This is the first 2nd floor general we've had in the 2005-on Laker era. I'm really going to savor this.

Btw, very small detail but I was watching a video of the pass Kobe got to LO in the 2nd, and on the replay at 14 seconds it showed the bench behind Kobe as he surveyed the floor. Watch everyone's eyes, Blake is the only one who notices LO drifting behind the rim and he and Kobe's eyes/head both flash to him while everyone else is watching the rest of the game. Beautiful.

Blake is just what this team needed. Absolutely perfect fit for what we do. I'd like to see Barnes have a big game to boost his confidence too.

We'll have another chance to see Blake's value as the season progresses when he faces Nash tonight or up against Dragic. I expect him to be persistent on defense tonight and not have either Suns guard to loaf off covering him.

bump.

he may not have had a great shooting night, but he was still certainly an impact off the bench. Here's a little interview after today's game.

For what it's worth ...

+13 against Houston
+10 against Phoenix

He's definitely been a spark for the team.

And Fisher was
-8 against Houston
-2 against Phoenix

Too early to start a trend, but the numbers are looking good for Blake.

Fishers defense. I guess to be fair he had to put up with Brooks, Nash and somehow found himself guarding Grant Hill which was not fun to watch and not even remotely possible for him to do anything with Hill.

Looking back so far...I think both of you gents are on to something. I'm in then... Blake has the funkiest looking follow through I've ever seen on a guard yet the ball has excellent rotation, good arc and is reliable. Weird...
