Steve Blake Discussion: Out Indefinitely (p. 102)

He's looked much better this season, so maybe he picks up some swagger again. I've always liked his attitude, he's just never done anything to back it up as a Laker.

Man... if he could just play consistently I'd actually like him as a Laker.

Why should Blake be fined for that when other players like Griffin and Paul aren't being fined for their flopping antics even though the NBA said they would take action?

Because rules are rules. If you cuss at a fan, you get fined.

If someone else is selling weed, that doesn't mean you can assault a guy.

i wonder how much they would have fined Reggie Miller when he was going at it with Spike Lee

Well it's a stupid rule. Fans yell and cuss at players all the time and they got no punishment. Fining a player for this is stupid. Garnett in Boston has cussed at a fan several times and it's been caught on camera and how many times has he been fined?

I don't get why you take issue with it.

And what does this have anything to do with flopping? They're entirely separate issues.

FWIW, Garnett has been fined for wearing his shorts too long.

I think that's awesome that Steve Blake is really getting into it. Not that it's cool to cuss at a fan at all, but it shows that he's not apathetic about the game that some players may seem.

Don't matter take his money, itll probably make him play better.

i dont know about you guys, but once in a while when i'm in need of a good laugh, i read the first 10 or so pages of this thread when we were all (including myself) so happy that the lakers had acquired blake. talking about how much he's going to help and how good he's going to fit in, etc

fast forward 2 years later and he's being fined 25k for cussing out a fan oh and his play has been anything but impressive

Well so far in this young season he's played the way we hoped he would play 2 years ago. He seems to have some confidence back.

Hopefully he keeps it up.

I honestly rather him shooting and missing than passing up shots.. Kobe kept looking for him because he knows he can knock them down. He didn't tonight, but I don't think that if he's shooting with confidence that will continue. He should be able to shoot 40% from 3 with those looks.

this guy will NEVER live up to his contract, regardless of coach and or role.

Loses confidence in his shot way to easily.

I think Blake is the only player on our team that can't be saved regardless of who our coach is or will be, the system we run or the role he's put in.....

Could have maybe been a closer game if Steve hits his shots, wish we had the real Steve out there, Steve Nash

Sadly, Steve Blake has always been and will always be a crappy away player.

Man I like how this thread got like 8 quick posts when he had really his first bad game. This season he'd been very solid. Last game he puts up a great stat line and this game he struggled.

Now he'll never live up to his contract again. The man had a tough night. Obviously his shot wasn't falling early and if it was maybe things change. Oh well. Tomorrow night he'll have another tough assignment. I'm eager to see how he does.

It's all mental with him.....if he plays that differently on the road.

In any case, I think the ship has sailed, he's proven he can't be counted for anything but a backup role.
