Steve Blake Discussion: Traded To Warriors

We need one of the two Steves back like...right now

Not having someone who can initiate some semblance of offense from the perimeter outside of Kobe is just killing us. He's going to average a career high in TOs if they don't come back soon.

This really sucks because it just means Kobe has to continue being our PG and SG. Not to say that he can't be both but its more of a grind for Kobe this early in the season and Morris can't do S*** on offense despite being alright on defense.

dang, not good.

blake was at least hitting that open 3 this year, we could have used that last night and moving forward.

I can't wait until he's an expiring next season and we can possibly move him for a half decent return. Obviously it's been a very disappointing signing, with all the missed time and horribly play.

For the record, I was flying out of LA on Thursday and met Steve at the airport. He told me he's still healing up and hopes to get back out there soon. He was flying to Orlando, seemed interesting until I looked it up and saw he was from around there.

Thank god. He can be out for the rest of his laker career and I wouldn't care.

He's a slow healer ... I don't think he would change that much in the starting 5 instead of Morris since he's known for deferring to Kobe and turned down open shots ... sure he could give the Mamba a breath here and there by initiating the O better than Morris .. but nothing significant

Well, IMO Blake is a lot more reliable than Darius and less erratic when dribbling. Sure Darius is the better and quicker on ball defender but is lacking most of everything else.

blake does a whole lot of nothing when hes on the floor, atleast duhon looks for his open 3s.

and thats essential, especially playing beside kobe whos going to be double team most of the time

I think D'antoni is going to bring out a more aggressive Blake.

I totally agree with this .... that is of course until he is traded!

Blake hasn't played for MDA yet. Every PG we've had has done a whole lot of nothing when they're on the floor until MDA came around.

Man, do people not follow MDA's career? He turns average PGs into really good PGs all the time. Whatever Blake has done under Phil or Mike Brown should not count against him anymore.

I think Blake will flourish in this new system.

What? Blake just dribbles and does nothing or gives it to Kobe every time, there will be no difference.

Ugh. Steve Blake needs abdominal surgery, will be out at least 6-8 more weeks, Lakers say.

well since most of us were saying duhon should be the primary backup, i'm not bothered by this news. nash being out for 10-14 more days minimum DOES bother me though.

Ugh!!!! You're killing me, Blake. Ugh!. Nash will be back before then; Morris can't run a halfcourt set, Duhon though solid is just as good as Blake. But still, this sucks...

Might be a good time to give DJO a test drive. Cant be worse than Morris...Morris last week in 3 games as a starter 19mins, 14% FG 2 points, 1.3 assists.

Well if Nash comes back within a few weeks it wont be that big of a deal. We were going to be stuck dividing up minutes between Blake and Duhon if both guys were available
