So technically, Blake hit the game winner right. This is kind of a big deal, I'd assume it would be mentioned somewhere on NBA.com's headline about the Laker game.

kobe and pau still had great games
and it was ring night

i think on a regular night, and certainly in the playoffs, the headlines would be different

Steve Blake was awesome tonight.

The guy hit two big threes to get us back in the game.
He helped the ball movement when our offense was stagnant.
He played much better D on Brooks after we sucked guarding him in the first half.
He hits the game-winning three pointer in his first game as a Laker.

It's going to be great to have him in our uniform.

^Pretty much everything BDG said.

If we had our bench from last season, we lose this game. Plain and simple.

Agreed. Farmar would have gone outside the offense, Shannon's shooting hand was hurt last year and we didn't even have a healthy, active backup SF like Matt Barnes.

Killer B's ... Blake, Brown and Barnes.

He was great, 2 huge 3's at the end of 3rd, GW 3, and great defense on Brooks at the end of game

Blake is big for us...our biggest problem has always been defense on quick pg's...I think problem solved, we should be able to hold our own against these guards.

Does the hater (yes singular 'hater') still think this thread is premature? Took all of one game for this guy to be a hero, sooooooooo much better than Farmar.

Also loved Steve Blake's performance. Absolutely what the Lakers needed from a backup PG. Great to have him in a Laker uniform.

  Blake's the man. Barnes played real hard tonight too
Can you guys do anything to free you up off of him or make some adjustments for next game?

Steve Blake seriously KNOWS how to play the PG role. We haven't had a PG who is this composed and always in rhythm with what is happening on the court for a looonnnggg time. He keeps his dribble alive really well, always surveys the court, penetrates at the right time, finds his teammates in good rhythm, and just flat out knows how to play his position. I can't believe how quickly he has acclimated himself to the Triangle offense; he knows where his teammates are suppose to be, knows how to cut and shift for the right spacing, knows how to get his own shot within the confines of the offense.....it's just a thing of beauty to watch to have a competent PG like him.

On a little side note, among a few of the good plays he was involved in today, there was this one corner series he did with Pau in the 4th qtr I believe which really was a beauty to watch: Pau handed him the ball, set up a screen, Blake immediately knew to penetrate to garner the double team trap, bounce passed the ball back to Pau, Pau hesitates to shoot, gives the ball back to Blake, and Blake proceeds to set Pau up beautifully once again with the same set up. End result was Pau missed the shot, but that play really showed me Blake's composure and understanding of his role.

GO BLAKER!!!!!! :jam2:

^^^ I am watching the game over on my DVR and I JUST saw that sequence you're talking about and was gonna comment on how great it was. I was like damn we have an actual PG that doesn't just dribble around and then jack up a shot he was actually running plays trying to get Pau an open shot. Yeah Pau missed, but it was a good look and Blake ran the 2 man game beautifully. Also as far as I know Blake's been a clutch player on losing teams his whole career, it's nice to see him our squad getting to experience what a great team is actually putting his skills to use, I have a feeling he's going to be a good playoff player.

The Killer B's all the way! Swarming on defense, stinging on offensive. So great tonight. These three B's off the bench got it DONE!

Loving Steve Blake. He is the guy we so desperately needed. Barnes, too, is one heck of an addition. Shannon B. is so improved and so much more confident in his shot this year. Wow. Our bench is going to be huge for us this year. What a difference. Losing Farmar was seriously addition by subtraction.

Its good to have a first -pass player running the point and who knows how to play his limits ... I'm sure we will see more entry passes and less contested long jumpers this season which was/is the speciality of Farmar and Fish .. the kind of decision which gets on every fan nerves very quick ...

Both Blake and Kobe did a fantastic job of running P&Rs tonight and I must say that I enjoyed it. When Pau was having trouble playing Yao straight up and when guys couldn't hit crap from the perimeter both Blake and Bryant changed it up and I really liked that. It was odd to see so much P&R for a change but I really liked the change of pace and I think it definitely caught Houston off guard at times.

I don't think it was Fish's offense that made PJ see the light tonight. It was Brooks playing playground basketball against Fish....

But then again, this is NOTHING new. Just hope Fish's touch is still there come playoff crunch time.

Til then and not to derail this thread.....

BLAKE was freaking awesome tonight! :jam2:
