Agreed. We already have three of the best league defenders (D12, MWP & KB). What we need is someone just like Nash.

Even having Blake back would do wonders for the starting linuep. IDK what happened to Blake but there should be no reason why he wouldnt be back before Nash. Why havent we heard anything about Blake's return...is it really that bad theyre not talking about it?

EL SEGUNDO – Lakers guard Steve Blake was examined today by Dr. Steven Yoon and had an MRI exam.

The exam confirmed that Blake still has an abdominal strain. As a result, he will be out at least another two weeks.

Blake was originally diagnosed with the abdominal strain on November 12 and has missed the last eight games with the injury.

Obviously, with a nerve aggravated by the non-displaced fracture, this is not a set-in-stone process. But supposedly he's in a place where it's a matter of getting his strength and conditioning back to a game-playing level. I'd bet closer to the 10 than the 7, so let's make that home game vs. Utah as the target

So, Nash is coming back before Blake does.

I'll believe it when I actually see him on the court, but hopefully it truly is no longer than two weeks.

I read somewhere on another Lakers reported by the L.A. Daily News that John Black said that Nash, completed his agility and jogging drills, "without no pain." Can anybody corroboate this?

LA Daily News wrote:

"The Lakers (7-8) had the day off Wednesday, but Nash spent that time receiving treatment. The Lakers originally planned for Nash to take an MRI on Monday but decided to evaluate how his body would respond to the agility and jogging drills."

"Nash completed those exercises without further pain, according to Lakers spokesman John Black, and the team currently hasn't planned for him to take another MRI. Nash's 13-game absence has marked his longest stretch since 1999."

That was the piece pulled from another forum...

Just get Nash back by mid-december. No need to rush.

I'm sorry, if we need Nash to be back to win anything, we have a bigger problem than we have thought. The Lakers should be winning without Nash.

Or being injured more importantly. Steve Blake was actually doing an ok job standing in for Nash until he got hurt as well.

one of the best PGs of all-time and it's outlandish that we need him if we want to be a contender? yeah that makes sense...

Truth is everyone believes that Nash's come back will be the end all to Laker problems. My opinion is Nash will help, but not as much as we think. It takes two to tango, and the other players are not the type to fit this system. This team was built to run the triangle offense, they don't have the perimeter shooting, the movement without the ball, and agility needed to be effective in MDA's system.
Nash will run the pick n roll and give effective passes out of that, but if they brick most of them what's the advantage? On the other hand Nash will add perimeter shooting and excellent free throw percentage, and move the other two guards to their natural position but still I don't see this translate to that many more wins.

I agree with you but I see where easyguy is coming from.

We shouldn't lose to teams like the Pacers, period. Not at home. We have laid many eggs like in Sacramento or against Dallas at home.

Nash is a difference maker but right now we look like a lottery team. With or without Nash, we should be a contender...Nash is supposed to put us over the hump, not help us make the playoffs.

Well let's see...

They had quite a few new players on the roster.
They had to learn some stupid system from Mike Brown which was a total fail.
They had to learn another system with the new coach at helm.

Why can't the fans be a little bit more patient?

This is really what it boils down to. The difference between us & the Heat, Thunder, Spurs & most of the top teams.. They've had a core in place running 1 system.. I think that's as big a reason as any why they chose D'antoni. Nash KNOWS his system & can run it better than anyone who plays the game.. If Nash is able to come out playing like he's capable of, all of a sudden this team gets tough to outscore.

Yup.... but it doesn't matter because we have a system that isn't dependent on having Nash..... or so I've been told....
