not different at all

both guys come to LA at the end of their HOF careers in a chance to win a ring. malone gets hurt, doesn't come back for a while and isn't the same after that

nash...???

i really hope he fully heals soon and gets back out there ASAP but it's just scary knowing they have no idea when he'll be back and who knows if he'll be at 100%

We can all be thankful that it's not something like a ligament which would take a REALLY long time. The bone should heal up within a couple more weeks I would assume. The mistake they made was telling us it would take a week which was absurd as many here pointed out when it happened. The wiser ones here said more like 4-8 weeks.

Didn't Blake have an abdominal strain last year too? This guy has just been such a complete let down. I don't even remember the last guy who was this big of a bust for us. Hopefully he'll do something to redeem himself this year, but I'm really tired of him and actually prefer Duhon and Morris. And I supported him for a long time.

Well my fear is a MIS-DIAGNOSIS by your piss poor training staff....that's what I'm fearing....and whenever i see the word "indefinitely", it is NEVER good. I just hope you're right....can't believe this team still has yet to see NASH on the floor. Any wins without nash against good teams are like bonus wins...

I hear you, no doubt we've heard that players will be back way sooner than they actually are here in Lakerland before. But "indefinitely" simply means there isn't a determined return date. That can be the case whether it's a turned ankle, a ligament tear or a fracture. It doesn't mean it's more or less severe than when it was diagnosed. Just that they won't put a date for the players return.

We'll see. Hopefully he's back sooner than later.

Agreed. A ligament tear is a much more serious thing. Fractures usually heal within 4-8 weeks, ligaments can take months and months, even up to a year.

When I saw the play happen it really didn't look that serious. Can't believe how long he will be out for. I am predicting 3rd week of December

No our medical staff is just fine they have done wonders for Kobe over the years its all about the fact we are just for some reason clinging our hopes to a 90 year old point guard who is going to just like Malone spend a good portion of the season on the bench. Why because thats just WHAT OLD PLAYERS DO. Nash out at least 40 games this year with various injuries is my projection father time has caught up with him simple as that. The guy got almost hurt twice in preseason prior to the fracture it was destined to happen and something similar will probably happen again.

I stand by my statement. Kobe is a different kind of animal, you can give him aspirine for a broken foot and he'll be good to go. Every other player is always behind schedule or diagnosed wrong.

Nash needs to sit out until that fib heals completely. There is a lot of load on the legs, and we don't want Steve to seriously break his fib if he lands incorrectly. So let him heal 100%, and then come back when he is fully healed. We are fine without Nash.

It's obvious we need him back. He's our floor general and knows D'Antoni's offense. He's the key to all of this in making it work and keeping everybody happy distributing the basketball. Unfortunately, we have another back to back coming up, and I seriously hope we pull out both.

I can't wait until he gets back...

SMH. With this news, and the age of Nash and Blake's history of injuries, I just don't get why we don't add depth. A combo guard who can play 10-15 minutes and who has big-game experience. If Morris or Duhon go down we are screwed - with no time then to add and integrate another player.

West or Arenas make sense. Esp West, who can defend and help run the offense.

We are set up for a huge depth issue now. Too much on the line this year. Dont need DJO and Ebanks and Clark. Cut two - sign West and Pietrus. PLEASE!!!!!! I think Pietrus will take the remainder of the MMLE we have, which is just above the vet min for him. We need depth and defenders - cause our bench CANT GET ANY STOPS.

^ It wasn't just the bench that couldn't get stops but the starters as well. I blame this loss on the back to back and the lack of effort. Hopefully once Dwight gets into shape more, and Nash returns we'll be more consistently like how we were during that three game win streak.

We got Malone..... he got hurt.... he underperformed because of the injury......

We got Nash..... he got hurt.........

Clear now?....

Yeah it was actually clear the first time what you were saying, but the comparison isn't there.

Even if Nash WAS hurt through the season, we're not dependent upon him. We have a system offense that will keep our other working pieces playing well anyway. Our 2004 team outside of Shaq/Kobe/Malone/Payton was pretty bad. Not to mention Payton was pretty damn bad as well.

Not to mention Kobe and Shaq not getting along. We have none of those chemistry issues. If you want to make the comparison, it'd be more like Gasol going down for the season and Nash playing the way he did the first two games throughout the year.

Your comparison doesn't work in my opinion.

Still confident in the bold part?

The Lakers have got to steal the Phoenix Suns training staff....

Nash and Grant Hill looked like they found the fountain of youth in Phoenix.
... Nash and Grant Hill leave Phoenix and are both suddenly on the injury list.....

It's not exclusive to athletes.. The climate in Arizona is just better for quick healing/general wellness.

I'm liking it so far..... been down here for 6 months off and on so far....

My creaky knees don't feel any better so I'm not sure it the weather...

Nash's injury was a fluke and if it happened when he was 23 he'd still be sidelined as long.... it's a fracture and those have a pretty specific time table

People don't seem to get Lakers trainers aren't Lakers doctors. Kobe loves Vitti, most do. They don't love the doctors if they have sense, that is why Kobe ended up innColarado in the first place, he went to an outside opinion because he didn't trust them. Malone trusted them and they may as well have ended his career. Same could be said for Mihm who his ankle screwed up on their watch
