Was talking to The Rock earlier on Twitter today; I looked up the injury: six weeks does seem like a reasonable return date.

It takes 2 months to heal a fractured fibula, depending on how severe. So the timetable is about right, though with Nash's age, it will likely be a little longer. From sportsinjuryclinic.net:

Treatment of a fibula fracture depends largely on the severity of the injury. Stress fractures require only a short period of non-weight bearing, followed by relative rest and non-weight bearing activity for 6-8 weeks.

There is also the potential for surgical intervention if you use Medscape. This type of injury is far different from person to person and can linger for a while.

I hope it's another 3 weeks but that until he's ready to start basket ball activities....another 3 to 4 until he's fully back and that's if he fits in the best prognosis.

Well.... the same crew thought Howard would magically fix the defense.... so....

A portion of our issues revolve around Kobe having to play point guard but the larger part is floor balance.... I've been saying this since the trading deadline last year. Pau and Howard are not working together... Pau didn't work together with Bynum.... there is a common theme there....

I'd put Pau on the bench and use him as the 6th man and play him as few minutes as possible with Howard and force him to be a center and play in the paint..... That seems to be the only way to get any value out of him.

It's definitely a good suggestion to get Pau more touches in the post. I still think they can play together. It's not perfect, but to me it looks better than a Pau/Bynum duo, as Dwight doesn't have to set up in the post as often as Bynum. In fact, we really shouldn't be setting Dwight up in the low post very much.

If Pau can get going in the post early on, the defense will collapse on him more, freeing up Dwight to swim to the basket for a dunk or tip-in. If Pau's not getting it going early, well, he ain't making it up on the defensive end that's for sure.

But with D'Antoni saying he wants to bench him so we can win, maybe there is a chance Pau will come off the bench and (hopefully) be more effective. If that happened D'Antoni would be a genius.

As opposed to Morris and Duhon? Having a two-time MVP reunited with his former coach can only help.

Agreed. It would help. But he's not going to turn this team in to a contender.

Well, Kobe took out Ricky Rubio last season. And that was much worse. These things happen I guess. It effing sucks, but it's just the logical randomness of life.

Kobe Bryant Gave Steve Nash An Amazing Nickname
I've never wanted a nickname to catch on more.
By Jack Moore (Buzzfeed Staff)

Image
Jerk. Sociopath. Evil mad man hell-bent on world domination. These are just some of the ways you could describe Kobe Bryant. Who knew that we'd have to add "genius nickname author" to the list? When talking to the Los Angeles Times recently Kobe finally rectified the problem that is Steve Nash's lack of a good nickname. (And no, "Nashty" is not a thing.)

“I’m not working too hard, to be honest with you. The shots that I made were all jumpers. It doesn’t take much energy to knock those jumpers down,” he said. “Bringing the ball up and having me kind of initiate the offense and score and stuff like that, it’s making me work a little more than I will when Gatsby gets back.
“When Gatsby gets back, I don’t have to do that. The game’s going to become even more easy for me.”

This is just brilliant. I haven't been able to put my finger on what exactly Nash's new LA style was, but this is it. Kobe Bryant is a genius.

Hey Steve, how much do you like that nickname?

You can just tell he loves it.

We're not that far gone guys. Our strategy is predicated on scoring efficiently. You can't tell me we won't be better once The Great Nashby gets back.

As for his injury, he should take as long as it takes. With the type of fracture he sustained, his bone will actually come back stronger, given it has a chance to fully heal. But if he comes back early & and re-injures it while it's still healing - all bets are off - we could lose him for the whole season.
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

We need him more than we need Pau, that's for sure (to me at least). Kobe + Steve + Dwight > Kobe + Pau + Dwight.

this is maybe a crazy thing to say but in this moment I would rather have Sessions here then Nash.....Nash is one old grandpa and he will be injured all season long....sessions is younger, he can make 7-8 assists, he is terrible on defense same like nash, and he can score 10-12 points same like nash and he is cheaper....and he play some great games for Cats this year

the major difference between this year's team and last year's was supposed to be steve nash. he's played one game. i think it's a big deal to have him in the lineup, and i'm bummed about the karl malone-ing of this situation as the weeks go by.

He will definitely help this team. But he's not going to single-handedly turn this team in to a contender. If we were on the brink, Nash would put us over the top for sure.

We have other issues as a team that need sorting out as well.

^Agreed. He will help in one critical area, though. In the last 5 minutes of the game being another option that can handle the ball, create & score, and shoot free throws. Unfortunately, he's the only player besides Kobe who I would trust with the ball in those situations.
