He needs to take on some of the Kobe role when he comes back.. Shoot more than usual so he draws the defense & gets some easy assists without turning it over alot. The guy is a great shooter I wish he'd have 20+ FGA games like Blake just did. We have to stop defenses from collapsing on Pau & Dwight & he's our best threat out there.

The only aspect we need is someone to help stretch defenses and probe a bit. If Nash can stay relatively healthy, play at 80%, I'll take his skill set. I am concerned about his first step defense, but other than that, his defensive position and decisions have surprised me this year -- better than I expected.

This is a Laker team that now understands it cannot rely on outscoring their opponent and have suddenly decided to play defense the right way. Whatever the outcome, the Spurs are in for a tussle.

THey didn't suddenly decide to play D. The Lakers are just better on D with Nash and Kobe off the floor. The problem is Blake and Meeks can't be relied upon to provide backcourt offense... and that's why we really need Nash back.

Nash coming back could be more of an issue actually. He's horrid on defense when healthy and with a hamstring issue it's not going to be that good.

His presence also puts another pass fist player out there who needs to be a shoot first player without Kobe. He and Pau passing up very high percentage looks for them to "move the ball" to guys like Meeks, MWP and Clark for 3's is exactly what we don't need. Pop will play us to do that and I hope Nash and especially Pau curb their innate urges to pass rather than attack.....

Yes, but Nash can really shoot, and if he realizes he needs to be one of the rare guys who can create their own shot, he makes us much better.

Nash usually steps up in the playoffs & plays great.. His career playoff stats are better every year than his regular season numbers. He's had some wars against Parker & the Spurs & I think he can bring a lot to the table if he can get on the court.

That backcourt of Blake and Nash from 10 games ago was pretty impressive. It makes it too hard to stop ball movement. They can beat the trap.

eh the defense statement is debatable. Blake isn't superior on defense. The defense the past couple of games has came from effort and team defense. You really think Blake can stay in front of the likes of Tony Parker and Jermey Lin? Also, Harden (though he scored 30+ points) had a in-efficient shooting night thanks to the pressure and team defense lakers presented.

If he's actually healthy, I think Nash is gonna end up surprising a lot of us and finally looking like his old self.

1. how did tony parker and jeremy lin end up in the same sentence?
2. i do think that having blake instead of nash has been helpful on defense, but nash's offense is going to be important. hopefully, he'll get to stay in with a hustle/athletic bench group to help avoid those 5 minute scoring droughts that this team has made fairly routine this year.

I didn't compare Nash to Blake..... You did. Nash is not a good defender healthy, is that even debatable? He also is most effective when he is setting up others..... The problem here is that the "others" are far worse scores than him..... Pau has the same mind set. If Meek, Clark and MWP are hitting the 3's we will be competitive... If Nash comes out and establishes himself as the primary scorer we will have a better chance IMO.... He's our best option that can creat his own shot.

^ Sorry about that, I wasn't trying to make that my point.

My point was, that the team defense was what sparked this nice game streak. Nash won't make it any worse.

The last time Nash came back from the leg fracture and nerve injury it was pretty impressive how well he played considering how you can't run while recuperating from leg injuries. Hope he looks that good today. Of course more intense in the playoffs against good, well coached teams.

It's going to be huge having him back today. When we dump it in the post, the Spurs can really only double off of Ron.

Insert Jamison with Blake/Nash and the bigs are going to have a lot of room to operate. Hopefully we see a lot of 1-4-5 pick and roll action with either Nash or Blake spotting up on the weakside.

I totally get Roo's concern. The last couple of games, including our win over SAS, the defense was what got us over. And that's where Nash has his problems. He does have his issues with Parker who seems to get the best of him in that department. But I can't see Nash himself being back as a negative. He's a great leader, distributor and shooter and I dig his game. I think he'll play with a lot of motivation and heart. Hopefully his body will follow! Man, the injuries this year.

You know, Nash brings so much on offense . . . you want to go to war with that guy. If he's getting too burned on the other end, we can insert Blake. But really, it should be a boost for us if Nash can go. I mean, do we really want to see a lot of minutes for Morris and Duhon in the post season? Spot minutes, sure. Many minutes? Yikes. Hoping to see Nash today if he can go!! :jam2:

i know rust from injury, but...

where's the nash who was bloodied, one eye swollen completely shut, still closing out games

we have this hollywood froufrou version who seems devoid of passion, heart, and soul...
