Nash will not fix our defense issues but he will surely help wit the offense. Less ball handling for Kobe which means better effort on D.

Lol that's a pipe dream. There is always some excuse for why Kobe's defense sucks.

Explanations aren't always excuses. This is an explanation.

I agree that Nash coming back will help Kobe's defense. D'antoni said the ball will be in Nash's hands & that means alot less Kobe ball.. He kills himself when he goes out there & puts the team on his back.. There's a time & place for that still, but not this often. We need a more complete effort out of Kobe. He's capable of doing so much more.

I've been thinking about a little optimistic notion these past few days about Nash's impact:

Remember that playoff game against Phoenix like 5 years ago (we lost and got bounced) where Kobe took very few shots and caught a lot of heat for it? Some people suggested that he was being selfish, trying to send some sort of message or something. Then some time later Kobe went on Inside The NBA and explained it, especially directed at Barkley who had called him selfish. Kobe said that him taking few shots was the game plan. He said that against a team like Phoenix, scoring a lot of points wasn't gonna do much, the key was to stop them. And he said that in order to stop them, everyone had to really be engaged on the defensive end. So the way to get people engaged was to really share the ball on offense. He said that getting guys really involved on offense would get them in the needed rythm and have a positive impact on D, helping the team get stops.

That's kinda my hope for Nash's return, that his ability to get people involved and subsequently more engaged will also have a positive impact on our team D. Guys get touches, they score, they feel more involved and develop a better rythm and all of the sudden they are really into the game and they play with more effort & energy, not only on offense but also on D.
That's what I hope happens, and it could be pretty big for us.
"The first time I ever saw my uniform hanging in the locker I put it on right away, and it just felt like I was putting on golden armour. From that day forward, I just called it 'the golden armour', it just felt like there was something mystical and magical about it" - Kobe Bryant.

Of course we won't be seeing prime Kobe D but we will see better effort D Them what he's shown recently. I also expect Kobe's minutes to go down when Nash returns.

A 39yr old will save the day. Great. Not only is Dantoni waiting for Nash, but the whole team seems to be waiting for Nash before they start getting serious. Imagine Phil doing that...That's right, you can't!

Nash and Kobe will be the worst defensive backcourt... but I still want this guy back on the floor.

As much as I want to see Nash back, he is not gonna fix our major problems.

As well as Dwight Howard gets fouled every possession, it is indifference that Nash on or not on the floor.

If Nash can play better than Morris and Duhon, then I think he can fix a lot of our problems. More distributing, less Kobe hero ball, someone else Kobe can trust, etc.

The Lakers have remained anxious for Steve Nash's return.

But they will have to wait some more.

In a brief interview with this newspaper after the Lakers' 113-103 loss Sunday to the Orlando Magic, Nash said the non-displaced fracture in his left leg hasn't healed enough for him to play in at least the Lakers' three-game trip this week. They have stops in Houston (Tuesday), New Orleans (Wednesday) and Oklahoma City (Friday). The Lakers then have a home game Sunday against Utah.

Nash said he plans to fly with the team to receive further treatment, but he hardly sounded optimistic about his return.

"Another 10 days to two weeks?" Nash wondered aloud. "That's a total guess. Since I can't run, I'm not going to play this week."

Nash has already missed 15 games, his longest span since 1999. He said he's not currently planned to take another MRI. Nash has participated in various agility and jogging drills in the past week, and shot jumpers during pregame warmups.

"The recovery time is getting better," Nash said. "But it's a small improvement."

Needs more time. :bang:

Nash or no Nash.....a team of Kobe, D12 and Pau shouldn't be 8-9 right now.

This was my one and only concern with getting Nash, injuries, and it's happened. Season is seemingly getting away from us already, we need Nash. He's not going to fix all our problems, but he should fix at least a couple.

i didnt except nothing then this with grandpa Nash....one week, one more week, then two weeks...I hope after this season he will retire and just go back to Canada...he was always one of the worst defensive players in this league and imagine the lakers defense when he come back..... the opp teams would score 125 ppg against us...

My question is why didn't he undergo the MRI a week ago ? Is the training staff afraid of what they could find ?

It looks like they have little clue on how to deal with this injury from an outside point of view...

Don´t expect nothing from this 2 times MVP with still great stats despite his 39´?!?!?!
Yeah, sure, let´s just stick with Blake, Morris & Duhon. :bang:

malone 2.0

looks like the medical staff is messing up yet again. can't believe we're going through more of this 1 more week garbage yet again. no wonder malone didn't want the lakers staff handling his injury

and lets say nash comes back in a month. why do we all assume he's going to be 100% and instantly make an impact?

That's why he's been working out during the past week or couple of weeks, it's not like he's sitting out for 4 months like Howard did. Steve Nash is one of the toughest guys in the league & knows his body more than perhaps anyone in the NBA, he will be ok & he will fix our issues on offense at least.

I am getting somewhat worried about this injury... why do they keep delaying it a week? Hopefully this doesn't end up like the Steve Blake situation. :bang:
