EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Nash participated in some on-court activities during practice Monday as he continues to rehabilitate from the fractured fibula in his left leg.

The team will wait and see how his body responds to similar drills in the next several days as they continue to evaluate when the All-Star point guard can return to the lineup. He had suffered the leg injury in the Lakers' second game of the season.

More on the Lakers

For more news and notes on the Lakers, check out the Land O' Lakers blog from the Kamenetzky brothers. Blog

The Lakers canceled an MRI that was scheduled Monday for Nash, opting to put him through a series of drills instead with strength coach Tim DiFrancesco.

"I really don't (know when Nash will return)," Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni said. "It's getting better every day. I know we keep saying that, but it is. Just when he's able to withstand some up-and-down, he'll play."

Steve Blake (strained abdomen) did not practice. He continues to be listed as day to day.

Nash and Blake have been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Indiana Pacers.

So, he could be back soon if his leg responds well to these drills. Good to know. If he can practice, that's something.

Hmm why not take the MRI just to be on the safe side?

Nash returning to an elite level is the main key to winning a ring this season imo. I'm not so much worried about when he can return.. Take whatever route gives him the best shot to get to 100% by playoff time.

The taught of the lakers canceling the MRI and instead putting him thru a series of drills makes me think he's getting better and coming back sooner then later.

This has to be a good sign....the fact that he's going through drills. I just hope he "kevin love"s us and comes back tomorrow or Friday.

I mentioned this before, with Phil included, but this works much better:

Kobe = Black Lion (aka Keith, leader of the group) Image

Dwight = Red Lion (aka Lance) Image

Nash = Green Lion (aka Pidge) Image

MWP = Yellow Lion (aka Hunk) Image

Pau = Blue Lion (aka Princess Allura) Image :mhihi:

Thats actually good news, just a few days ago they were saying he couldn't do anything at all. The fact he can do something b ball related was good.

Great news that he's able to do drills. Hopefully The Great Gatsby will be back on the court shortly. Let's all hope anyway.

At times I forget he's even on the team and I continue to have expectations of this team as if they were fully healthy. Which goes to show how talented we are, that we can not have one of the best PGs in the game and yet still be a contender.

I really am forgetting how good he can be. That stint in Brown's offense has tainted by memories. Hope he really can help Gasol, Howard, Kobe and metta get better looks.

But his D will be like watching fisher again...

wtf ? no way . are you serious ? :bang:

Thats like saying I would rather have Helen Hunt in a tub of whipped cream jnstead of Jessica Alba.

sessions is playing well but he's not Steve Nash. he would be great for our bench and it sucks he opted out. imagine our bench with sessions Meeks Ebanks Jamison and Hill. that would be good. but the kid is no way better for us than Nash.

although I do think he's a great player and under dantoni's system would be amazing vs how he was under mike browns which was a dish role and wasted his talent. I wouldn't resign here either knowing mike brown was the coach again with the same game plan for sesh.
