Sweetest regular season win in 2009-10?

Postby Lets Go Lakers on Fri Jul 30, 2010 6:47 pm

??

For me, it was winning at Portland without Kobe. We hadn't won there in years and we dominated them from start to finish.

Second, was a few nights later when we went into Utah, without Kobe again, and we stopped their 11 game winning streak.

Both games were the epitome of team basketball, everyone getting theirs. It was sweet.

I can't really think of anything else so I'll agree with you on those games. Unlike the 09 regular season, we didn't really have any statement games (primarily since we didn't need to send out statements, we were already the defending champions).

In retrospect, even though last year's regular season had so many exciting games with Kobe's buzzer beaters, it felt incredibly boring because none of the games really had any meaning.

I'll go with December 4th when Bryant hit the game winner right in Wade's face.

That was probably my 3rd choice. That was a huge game that we needed.

Easily @ Boston in January.

I'm actually surprised it wasn't mentioned yet.

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

Against Boston when Bynum dunked on KG, Kobe's game winner's vs the Heat and the Queens, and the games when Kobe was out with injury when the team came together without him and won like 5 games in a row.

I agree with the OP. I loved the win streak we had when Kobe decided to shut it down mid-season. We destroyed some good teams without the Mamba.... That's when I knew this team was ready to roll...

Kobe game winner in Boston. Doesn't really get any better than that.

Fading three point banker over Wade in LA was somewhat lucky, killshot over Jesus, not so much.
Fan of the worst 57-25 team in the history of Western Civilization

For guys that play with me that enjoy hard work and that enjoy pushing themselves to raise their level of play, they've never had an issue with me. For guys that don't want to do that ... go the extra mile or run through that wall, we're gonna have problems. It's as simple as that.

This is kind of random and has really nothing to do with this thread

In the Lakers Association movie when Phil told the team ''Don't get lost in this city, there's some nasty people here'' Was he referring to Boston ?

Two stand out to me:

1) Kobe over Ray Allen in the Garden

2) Kobe over D-Wade
Kenny Smith: What do you call a power forward who doesn't get 10 rebounds a game?
Charles Barkley: Small forward

going random on ya', but i just set down the SI commemorative issue of the NBA Championship (Lakers Sweet 16th). Gawd what a sweet season, playoffs, and Finals. I mean, we beat BOSTON in 7, and came from behind inh the 4th to do it. Sheeeeeeit, it just doesn't get any better. Neither does The Balvenie Doublewood 12. anyway, I'm a little happy right now, just reliving that Finals. Game 7. Boston. IT JUST DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER. I hope all the young ones savor this, because it's RARE. Let's all put next year on the backburner for awhile, and instead of thinking about signings and FA's, lets all, every night, keep watching the 2010 Finals over and over. That was one for the ages. God it made me happy. And evidently, it keeps making me happy.

And to answer the OP's original ?, being located in the Pacific Northwest, beating PDX in PDX was AWESOME. I was beginning to think it was NEVER going to happen.

Lakers Baby!

These two :

1) Kobe game winner over Ray Allen in Boston

2) Kobe buzzer beater right in the face of D.Wade in Staples. (Eat that, Wade)
Michael Jordan : "My Chicago team are the all-time greatest"
Magic Johnson : "Put me with Kareem, James Worthy, Cooper and Byron Scott, and we'd dominate your Bulls team"
