The end of the Lakers simulcast

Folks, we have heard our last Lakers simulcast. By game 3 of the playoffs we will be listening to different announcers on TV and Radio. Here is the breakdown:

Television:
Play-by-play: Paul Sunderland (two year contract extension)
Commentary: Stu Lantz (two year contract extension)

Radio:
Play-by-play: Candidates are Larry Burnett, Joel Meyers, Bill Macdonald
Commentary: Candidates are Reggie Theus, Don MacLean

James Worthy's Ch 9 television contract prevents him from candidacy for the Radio commentary position.

I don't like it. I think Stu & Paul should keep on doing it, if chick did it for all those years, why cant they?

I think the day that Chick Hearn died, was also the day that the Lakers simulcast died. I know that Paul and Stu are doing a great job so far, but Chick is Chick. He is the only one who can pull off a Lakers simulcast. Chick did such great in finding a medium in handling both television and radio. He was the master in incorporating what was needed for both TV and radio individually, into one. The way Chick commented the game, he never alienated a television viewer or a radio listener at the same time. He was a genius in satisfying all of his audience. I'm sad that the simulcast is going to end, but in reality it already ended when Chick left us to go to heaven. A place where his heavenly voice has found its rightful home.

I agree that Larry Burnett is mean and a jerk. I called Lakers post game one time and he was very sarcastic in his response. If you don't agree with any of his takes, he just disregards yours.

Well, I personally think they should give the desicion to Stu, because in a way, he has been there for a long time (not long compared to Chicky baby) but still for some quite time, and he should be able to decide this. Personally I think it is a horrible call, I love listening to Stu & Sunerland. They go great together, and to tell you the truth, without Chicky, I thought Sunerland has done a great job, filling the seat that not many can or ever will...

Granted, no one will ever be able to take the place of Golden Throat. But for having to take over the job of a legend, Paul Sunderland has done an excellent job. We might not get to here some of the great Chickisms anymore, but Paul even has some of his own. Paul and Stu have maintained a good Laker broadcasting duo and at least we don't have to listen to annoying announcer making stupid comments or going off on tangents on subjects having nothing to do with basketball.

Yeah, they are a great duo, voice match
and they bring up good points about the team,
very expreeinced and actaully know what they are saying
