The Lakers that need to go!

The Lakers that need to go!

Postby Danny Ainge on Sat May 17, 2003 1:27 pm

Well I've thought this out and these are the current Lakers that should be on their way out.

Samaki Walker: He is number one on the outgoing list simply because he has done nothing to contribute these past two years.

Brian Shaw: "Old Reliable" will bever be forgotten for his heroics in the years past but at this time, at his age, he needs to hang up his boots.

Rob Horry: It hurts me even to think about Robs departure but it is simply his time thats all; no hard feelings though.

Mark Madsen: Love him or hate him, you can't knock his energy. Lately though, he seems to be more concerned about how fast he can inbound the ball rather than expending that energy on making a defensive stop.

Tracy Murray: Who is this moron anyway, its sad when you think this guy actually had a couple of 50-point games.
..................

The rest of the players can stay, but some like Slava are definetly on the hotseat.

That list is probably on the money. Robert Horry saved us last year. It would have ended back to back, no 3 peat. Madsen does seem as if his greatest asset is inbounding like Rambis, except that this team doesn't break like Rambis' teams did.

Samaki Walker and Tracy Murray are definitely out.

Since, I'm a UCLA student, I still support the ex-UCLA player. But he just did not pan out. He just can't play defense.

I want Horry, Shaw, and Madsen to stay. If Horry takes a paycut, that's great.

So you want us to be small, slow and old? That is the description for ALL THREE of those players. We need to get BIG, FAST and YOUNG. We can't be that way with those three!

I thought Murray was gonna get some playin tyme this season, well I guess not. Someone had to stay on the IR list, and well that's him... :man10: But it's aight though. Samaki isn't that aggressive, and needs to learn how to catch the ball in the post, no offense!! But I guess Kobe's hit wasn't hard enough on him last season, he was just tryin to fire him up. And well some cant be...I'm happy to see him go, we gotta move on! But if somehow Horry stays, I'll be happy. I just love what he's done in the past, but that shouldn't also be a reason to keep him, if he can't contribute. Poor Shaw, we're gonna miss him... :man6:

I still remember Samaki's last year in SA, when he was filling in for Duncan. In my accounts he played good and productively. That's why the Lakers signed him last year.

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

Honestly, I expected a lot more from Tracy Murray though. He never real got the chance to get comfortable playing with the Lakers. With limited minutes we never really saw him get into any kind of rythem. Tracy was a good player though back in his day. The Lakers picked him up after he had hip surgery though so that may be a reason why he didn't get as much play time.

You missed out Isiah Rider and Mitch Richmond. As for Glen Rice I think he did a hell of a job with the Lakers. He did score 16-17ppg with us, what more could we ask for at the time, look at us now..no one is near scoring 16ppg as a 3rd scorer. Also he was the 3rd option scorer and not the #1 go to guy like he was in Miami and Charlotte, plus he was fresh off injury and really never did get back in form.

Yea, Glen RICE would've been nice to have against the SPURS this year although he would have been smoked by Gibioli, Bowen, Jackson..... but at least he would scored also. I missed those 3's he lauched even though as a LAKER his 3point% dipped drasticly. (less touches)

Good OL Glen Rice and AC Greens' Lucky Green Bear ...... then we would've beaten the SPURS... hmmmm maybe not.... LOL :man10:
