The OPTIMISM THREAD!

Thrilled with getting X and Kelly back. A healthy X or Bazemore….. from how they stepped up last year when healthy I probably still leaned toward X. Stronger player, confidence and makes a nice impact when hot. We have lots of guys now that make nice to great impacts when hot. They're capable of getting HOT.

The best thing for this year will be cheering for no more than one win out of four so the Lakers can keep the top five pick. Honestly cant think of 5 teams worse than the Lakers this year.

I for one thought Doc's quote was powerfully optimistic.

Whats more optimistic for the Laker franchise? Getting a top five pick or getting 35 wins with no playoff and no lottery pick. This is Jimmy and Mitch mess. I am just trying to make the best of it.

More optimistic is being positive. If you don't want to be positive, get out of this thread. Simple, right?

like the Johnson, henry, and Kelly deals. all should make them early bird, which means the lakers can keep their cap holds low, sign quality FAs and exceed the cap up to the MLE to keep them if they wish (or S&T them at that rate, I believe). thus, if any of them pan out, there's a chance the lakers can keep them after making big moves. this is unlike ed davis (on whom they'd have to use cap space) or j. hill (to whom they maybe have full bird rights, but it doesn't matter, as his cap hold would be huge).

Ummmm……maybe I blew it. So to speak. Guess I wasn't sure how to take LJ's post. Still not sure. Still think it doesn't fit with glass half full exuberance of this thread :man12: :man10:

We're not getting a top 5 pick this season. Last season was the worst in franchise history and we were given the 7th pick. We're not going to do worse than we did last year so hoping for that pick is fruitless and a waste of time. Not something I would consider (or most people for that matter) "optimism".

If Kobe has anything to to do with it there will be no lottery for the Lakers. And I sure as hell don't want to give the Suns a high pick in the draft. I for one think this team can compete for a playoff spot depending on if key players stay healthy. And we play defense. I seriously don't think this team could be any worse than last year. In fact think this team could be better than the '12-13 team where Kobe dragged a hobbled and malcontent dwight, an injured Nash, a lackluster Pau and a bunch of mid level d-leaguers into the playoffs. Of course the west wasn't as strong then as it is now so a lot of things would have to go our way for a successful season.

This team is going to surprise a lot of people. I know the west is stacked but with Kobe, you can never count this team out. We have a decent team. Think Lin will surprise some people if he's given a consistent amount of minutes. If Boozer can help Randles midrange game then Randle will be a tough cover. Believe we make the playoffs as 7/8 seed.
