The Optimistic Thread! (TRD's FREEDOM THREAD!)

Foolish as many will deem this I am still optimistic that this season will be salvaged. Tonight will be a good start.... A win against a quality team will do wonders for a team that has forgotten how to win games. Foolish I might be but I still have faith! :jam2:

Memphis has watched our last few games and think we're a total joke...they dont take us seriously and we eek out a 1pt win

You're a breath of fresh air my man.

I needed to read something like this today. I don't know what Lakers we'll see on the floor tonight, but hopefully we see a team that's at least interested in winning. If we win tonight, I'll at least respect them for another day.

^^ I actually totally agree with both of you. It's doom and gloom for good reason right now. But it's actually not too late. If we can get an unlikely win here there is still enough time to turn it around and make the playoffs. It's a tough road, but if they can actually get 2 of these next three wins they could head towards recovery.

Basically to me, these next few games are D' Antoni's job on the line. If we lose, we're sunk and he's sunk. But if he wins there is still time on the clock, still possibilities of a turn around.

I'll keep it brief because this is the optimistic thread and there's not much to be had right now.. but!... :

There really is still time. Not really because our team is improving or that we're clicking in fact it's the exact opposite.

Every team in front of us from Dallas to Utah ISN'T as talented as us. They're better TEAMS because they play together and follow the path and the coaching orders. They aren't NEARLY as talented as we are as a group.

All we need to do is play better than the Trailblazers for the latter part of the season and we make the playoffs. If we play better than that, we have a chance to make some noise. Will we? I don't know... It'd take the most massive turnaround in league history. But that's what faith is about right? Looking for that glimmer of hope?

here's to tonight's game and the hope that we see some real Laker basketball.

And just to elaborate a little bit on the talent point: if we weren't a TALENTED team we wouldn't be able to play teams like Miami, San Antonio, the Clippers, and the Kicks close. Those are REALLY good teams and we're in the mix against them.

The difference in those games always comes down to execution and faith. The other teams BELIEVE they'll win, we don't. That can change, but we'd need to get that winning attitude back. That's a long ways away and it starts with our best players Dwight and Kobe. They need to sacrifice together to make this work.

Keep in mind folks, we've been hit hard with injuries. If the team plays better and other teams suffer from similar injuries to key contributors like we have, there's no reason to think we can't make the playoffs still. Don't know that it matters much, but it would still be nice to see them play well together just to make next season worth looking forward to.

I still get excited about Lakers games. Always. I don't care if we're 20 games under .500 and not making the playoffs; if they are playing, I'm watching and expecting a victory. I know I'm delusional...

maybe we'll trade gasol for some useful assets, maybe we'll convince phil to come back, maybe we'll go undefeated for the rest of the season.

I bought a new Samsung 46 inch LED tv yesterday that I'd been saving for a while to get, so on the positive side, we got beat down, but it looked really, really good to me. :man10:
