Yes, the camaraderie is much improved. There is no pressure on the crew off lofty expectations. I still would like to see a semblance of ANYONE scoring on the low block. The best candidates are Kaman and Hill. No team can live and die by the perimeter game as this season draws on. D'Antoni tailors his line-ups to the opponent's and most of them have responded so far.

We'll get more of that with Kobe, especially with the assumption that he won't have the same explosive first step as he would like and would probably work in down low using his footwork.

Now that we actually have legitimate SF's, Kobe won't have to play there anymore. And now that we're shooting the ball well, it'll space the floor out even more.

I think we'll see a lot of post picking with Pau/Kaman/Kobe too.

^I like seeing Gasol and Hill setting picks properly. Last season, we had no one for that. Either they were in the trainer's room or they aren't very good at it. Ball movement seems better too.

Wow. A rare glimpse at the bearded Woodpecker not drilling a hole into the court with his constant dribbling in one location for 20 seconds at a time.

Not really too upset at this loss.

It was two teams that were really scrapping and going at each other. I don't mind losing to another team that just had more scrap and star power than us. I mind when it's the refs trying to determine the outcome, which I don't think they did during this game.

Optimistic: 2 straight games we didn't get blown out of the water. 2 straight games where we had a chance to win. 1 for 2 ain't bad for this squad, especially the way some tall Euro is impersonating Pau Gasol all season long.

I like this team...they play gritty. Outside of two blowout losses, we're doing okay. As I keep saying, we'll get better once everybody finds their roles within this offense and the rotation settles in....

And once Kobe comes back. I mean... that's huge. He's only our best player.

I don't like saying this but here, I go.... Maybe seeing and talking with the back specialist tomorrow Nash will finally see that retiring will be the best thing for him and the Lakers.

We're going to get a nice draft pick .... no need to tank , we suck enough to not make it to the playoffs ... then the NBA will fix the CP3 fiasco by fixing the lottery

Yeah, I do like this team, and I think we can keep some pieces to develop into rotational pieces for the future...nevertheless, this is a very good draft and a good start at adding more quality youth to key positions to this team that need it...like PG and Center

Can't be too mad.

Lakers played hard, but a loss like that is what happens when you don't have a closer like Kobe... and the other team has a closer like Randolph

Yep.

Memphis' record isn't great, but they've got some real winners on their team. The Lakers played some great defense in this game and got some great performances from their role players. Williams hit big shots, Nick Young played well, Blake looks good, and Meeks has been fantastic thus far in this season.

Definitely some good things to take away from this game. If you have a Kobe on this team, things change for sure.

Each game we play I get more positive about this team. I know people want to scream we are lottery bound or we suck but the fact is this team is coming together. Right now we are learning to overcome mistakes in the 4th quarter. If memory serves me right 3 of our 6 losses have been about us not being able to execute late in the game. That comes with playing and getting the opportunity of making those plays. We are much better than people are giving credit for and I can see us rattling off some nice wins in a row soon. Also, Jodi Meeks and Steve Blake are balling right now.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

I agree. The team I watch is not the team I hear and read about. Without question, this is a better team for 3.5 quarters than last years squad. Closing games is tougher, but I like what I see most of the time. Outside of Farmar, I think everyone is playing surprisingly well. And the defense isn't atrocious either.

We have legitimate assets in Jordan Hill, Meeks, Blake, Young and Kaman. And Farmar, Williams and Henry have a big ceiling. The more they gel and get consistent rotations, these losses are going to turn into close wins.

I'm happy with the play of Steve Blake, Jodie Meeks and Jordan Hill right now and especially the effort they bring every game.

So I've been farting around all afternoon with some honey do things and not paying my usual due diligence to the goings on at CL and finally jump back in about 10 minutes ago…..and Kobe Bryant is back practicing and the guys are saying he looks kind of "like he always looks".

LMAO! OH HELL YEAH!!! :man4: :jam2: :jam2: :jam2:

Apparently we've had the 2nd toughest schedule so far in the league. 6-7 ain't too bad considering everything.

Agreed. If we can get to .500 tonight given that fact I consider it a pretty good feat with no Kobe.
