Wiggins, Parker, Embiid??? This whole situation reminds me of the Spurs the season before they drafted Duncan.

13-19? Well, we're still better than our 17-25 record last January. :man9:

Can't wait to see Kobe and Parker at the same time on floor :man1:
no but seriously, just think about it, that could be scary, Parker is already NBA ready, who needs Melo??

I no its a long time till the draft and things can change but I agree with you that I really like Parker and as of right now would take him over Wiggins.

Right now we would have the 10th pick if things remained the same and nothing changed during the lotto. The East is just too terrible for us to get a top 5 pick.

That's not really optimistic.

The League is better when the Lakers are good. If we're in the bottom eight teams, you better believe we'll get a top 5 pick. :man10:

I'll add that this draft is deep with really good players so we should have no problem securing a very serviceable prospect regardless of where we end up. :man1:

Basically if we're in the lottery I believe we'll get a solid NBA player. The difference will be between whether or not it'll be a great player or a good player.

Marshsanity will keep us afloat in January and then Nash, Blake, Farmar, Kobe, and X come back in February to lead us to the title :jam2:

I don't want to get ahead of myself, and I don't want to disappoint those who want to tank, but if we can just tread water until we're at full strength, we wouldn't need an utterly ridiculous finish for the playoffs.

We are 14-19.
We have 14 games until the end of January.
There are some tough games and some miserable ones in that stretch. Denver, @Dallas, @Houston, @LAC, Cleveland, @Phoenix, @Toronto, @Chicago, @Miami, @Orlando, @NYK, Indiana, and Charlotte. If we can split those games, and I've put the winnable ones in bold (who knows about the Clippers without CP3), we'd be 21-26.

We have 35 games from February 1st to the end of the regular season. We'd have to go 24-11 to close the season to finish at 45 wins.

^^^ Are you factoring in the March portion of the schedule....

@Portland, @Denver, @SAS, SAS, @OKC, OKC, LAC, @Minny, PHX

We win maybe 2 games in that stretch.

Other games that month - Pelicans, Knicks, Bucks, Orlando, Wizards

Not a lock to sweep those teams.

By March we're at full strength. :man1:
Farmar/Marshall/(Nash?)
Meeks/Blake/Henry
Kobe/Young/Johnson
Gasol/Williams
Sacre/Kaman/Kelly
...or something like that.

Hey, this is the OPTIMISTIC THREAD!

I think full strength we are easily a playoff team and we don't suck as much as fans want to believe. I'll roll with your optimism Trodge :jam2:

Well, I agree there. That's not even optimism... at full strength we're definitely a playoff team. We're never at full strength though.

Interesting fact for y'all:

Since our 2010 Championship, the team we have lost to in the Playoffs has gone all the way to the NBA Finals. We've been contenders for the last 6 seasons, damnit! :man12:

at least with the swaggy incident and ensuing drama, am710 will have more to talk about instead of 24/7 "gosh the lakers are bad."

I can't lie. Absolutely loving what's going on here. A couple weeks ago people in here were blowing off our chances of getting a top pick since there were like ten teams worse than us. Now look where we're at. We've gained so much ground, with this long road trip giving us so much potential to drop further. We can overtake these teams no problem.

I'm actually rejoicing at losses as if they were wins. In other years this would be a complete disaster. This year is special and we've been lucky to be so unlucky with the way things have turned out. I swear, finishing with the worst or second worst record this year would feel like a championship to me.

Say what you want about D'antoni, but thank goodness we don't have mike brown anymore. That roster in Cleveland could easily have 30 wins at this point in the easy east with another coach. Probably any other coach.
Every time I begin to ask, "Is he really as great as I think he is?" ...He proves that he is.
Every time I begin to wonder...He proves it...That is why I won't lose hope in him.
You know who I am talking about.

One of the craziest games I have ever seen in all my years :man10:

Never thought I would see a team, let alone the Lakers has only 5 players left.

Crazy Game and the Nash sighting at the end :man10: Classic!
