The Optimistic Thread! (TRD's FREEDOM THREAD!)

I say we will win this game tomorrow. Heat will be taking us lightly without Kobe and the rest of the injures, but this team is scrappy and doesn't give up. I say we surprise them like we did the Clippers on opening night :jam2:

So proud of our guys, they were there with champs with Gasol and "no namers" in tight game giving everything on that floor, yes there were A LOT of mistakes, but that's fine, for most of them this is first Christmas game on ESPN, this was awesome game, and our guys did what they could, and once again, i'm proud.

Competed. I'm not into moral victories, but hey, we went against the defending NBA back to back champions, and kept it close...I'm happy..

^^ Absolutely agree! There were a number of times where a lesser hearted team would have just laid down and died. But we kept coming back, kept making it close, all the way down the stretch. It was a hard fought game and I thought we did great. Wish we could have got the win.

13-19? Well, we're still better than our 17-25 record last January. :man9:

Can't wait to see Kobe and Parker at the same time on floor :man1:
no but seriously, just think about it, that could be scary, Parker is already NBA ready, who needs Melo??

I no its a long time till the draft and things can change but I agree with you that I really like Parker and as of right now would take him over Wiggins.

Right now we would have the 10th pick if things remained the same and nothing changed during the lotto. The East is just too terrible for us to get a top 5 pick.

That's not really optimistic.

The League is better when the Lakers are good. If we're in the bottom eight teams, you better believe we'll get a top 5 pick. :man10:

I'll add that this draft is deep with really good players so we should have no problem securing a very serviceable prospect regardless of where we end up. :man1:

Basically if we're in the lottery I believe we'll get a solid NBA player. The difference will be between whether or not it'll be a great player or a good player.

Marshsanity will keep us afloat in January and then Nash, Blake, Farmar, Kobe, and X come back in February to lead us to the title :jam2:

I don't want to get ahead of myself, and I don't want to disappoint those who want to tank, but if we can just tread water until we're at full strength, we wouldn't need an utterly ridiculous finish for the playoffs.

We are 14-19.
We have 14 games until the end of January.
There are some tough games and some miserable ones in that stretch. Denver, @Dallas, @Houston, @LAC, Cleveland, @Phoenix, @Toronto, @Chicago, @Miami, @Orlando, @NYK, Indiana, and Charlotte. If we can split those games, and I've put the winnable ones in bold (who knows about the Clippers without CP3), we'd be 21-26.

We have 35 games from February 1st to the end of the regular season. We'd have to go 24-11 to close the season to finish at 45 wins.

^^^ Are you factoring in the March portion of the schedule....

@Portland, @Denver, @SAS, SAS, @OKC, OKC, LAC, @Minny, PHX

We win maybe 2 games in that stretch.

Other games that month - Pelicans, Knicks, Bucks, Orlando, Wizards

Not a lock to sweep those teams.

By March we're at full strength. :man1:
Farmar/Marshall/(Nash?)
Meeks/Blake/Henry
Kobe/Young/Johnson
Gasol/Williams
Sacre/Kaman/Kelly
...or something like that.

Hey, this is the OPTIMISTIC THREAD!

I think full strength we are easily a playoff team and we don't suck as much as fans want to believe. I'll roll with your optimism Trodge :jam2:

Well, I agree there. That's not even optimism... at full strength we're definitely a playoff team. We're never at full strength though.

Hey you take that negative (even if it is correct) tone out of here mister :mad1: We got to get healthy at some point..... right?
