Ehm... I'm sorry for saying this on this topic but... we gave our first round pick to the Suns (if it's a lottery pick) or the Cavs (if it's not, and they decide to swap with the Suns).

No need to apologize. I think it's top 14 protected. At least, according to NBAdraft.net.

SHABAZZZZZZZZ! :jam2:

I'm afraid not.

2013 – Owe first-rounder (unprotected) to Phoenix Suns (Steve Nash).

2013 – Cleveland Cavaliers have the right to swap first-rounders (Ramon Sessions), prior to the Laker pick going to the Suns if the Lakers make the playoffs. If the Lakers are a lottery team, it goes directly to the Suns. If the pick is swapped, it’s the least favorable among the Cavaliers, Miami HEAT and Sacramento Kings’ first-rounders, which then goes to Phoenix.

Now, to be optimistic... Nash seems to be getting better. He might come back on saturday of next week (and I'm not gonna use that word that begins with I)

Hey at least we'd tank at the start of the season.

The worst kind of tank is the one where you're trying no to.

But damn having no pick sucks LOL.

maybe we learn from the 2nd half of the knicks game and play at a slower pace and run only occasionally?

that would be a great thing to build on....they cut a 26 point lead down to 7. without melo but still thats good for this team. dantoni would be smart to play that way until nash is back and then try experimenting or whatever. but for now do what is working and although now well, it was working playing slower. less turnovers too. would like to get rid of switching on pnr though...dwight on pg is not good AT ALL. terrible defensive scheme

I guarantee a Laker win today. If they lose I will not post in Lakers Discussion from tomorrow through all of January
Every time I begin to ask, "Is he really as great as I think he is?" ...He proves that he is.
Every time I begin to wonder...He proves it...That is why I won't lose hope in him.

Agree 100%. It will never be like Phoenix in 2006/2007. If Mike can adjust his scheme, they're still a real threat in the western conference. They only need to be a .500 road team and win 90% or so at home to believe they are real.

they did beat the Heat. So it is not a gimme. Something really big will happen in L.A. if they lose this game.

well, this is something we all already knew. who in the hell was completely excited to have MDA run a system on a team that completely doesnt fit his system?

my optimism: the knicks have looked really good. why is that lakers optimism?

because when nash gets back, they'll be running a similar offensive system, except instead of felton, they have nash. instead of chandler, they have howard, and instead of melo, they have kobe. the real key will be figuring out how to use gasol (in trade or on the floor), but dantoni's system + athletic center is a working formula right now. this bodes well for la.

I'm optimistic that Nash should return within 2-4 weeks and Pau should as well sometime around that time. With our team nearing full strength we should really see what we're capable of and I don't believe we'll be disappointed.

I feel really odd typing this, but I think the team needs to lose tonight. We all joked about rock bottom, but I think it's something that would actually help.

My father made the anology recently that this team sounds like an addict, let's say an alcoholic. They keep saying all the right things, and it's clear they know they're wrong, but they haven't hit the point where they realize it needs to end. They haven't stopped sliding yet. They haven't woken up in an alleyway bloodied up with no recollection of how they got there.

That alleyway is tonight against the Wizards.

If they hit that point, I feel like mentally they could turn a corner. I'm optimistic that regardless of tonight's result they will eventually hit that point, but a small part of me wants them to lose because it might help them mentally realize how far they've slid and how much they desperately need to turn it around.

Poor choice of words today.

And like I said, regardless of the outcome I think they need to hit that point. Am I rooting for them to lose? No, but if they do I think they force the issue upon themselves mentally.

that mentality should've came out after the Orl loss or even the Cavs loss.

Agreed and yet the Wizards are worse than either of them. If that attitude doesn't come after this game then it won't come ever.

Playing the Wizards could fix a lot of what is wrong. The play in the second half last night was much better.

3 normal guys in the rotation hurt. Meeks looks solid. Why can't they win 70-75% of their remaining games if just a few of the role players do what they can do ?

Lots of threads to post this.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.
