Three Players Who Want to Play in LA: K-Mart, B Brown, Bell

A few free agents still out there who I've been told all have interest in the Lakers: Raja Bell, Kenyon Martin, Bobby Brown

Tinkerbell and K-Mart have their own threads, so I'll bump those too. BB doesn't have his a thread, so here you go.

I saw this in the Roster Improvement thread...

F*** it, I'd take Kenyon no problem and I'd take Bobby Brown too. No thanks to Bell, I'd rather have CDR and Sasha.

I'd roll out the red carpet for K-Mart.

Kaman/Hill
Pau/K-Mart

and the rook can get burn where he can.

Then we can focus on adding a SF and a better backup SG or two players capable of playing both spots. Wouldn't say no to Brown. But I think Bell has a fork sticking in him right about now.

Martin, sure no problem. Bobby Brown, can't say I've ever heard of him, the basketball player anyway, might rather have Morris. Raja Bell, well that deserves this being broken out

No GOD! No God please no! No! No! NOOOOOOOOO! I would rather we bring back Ebanks. I would rather we search the depths of the D-League, I would rather we went overseas and signed any player 6'6 to 6'8 listed as a SF, regardless of talent level, than have to root for Raja freaking Bell this season. I can tolerate a lot, I know we're tanking, but you make me root for Raja Bell and I may not watch a game this season. Sign Sasha and stick him at SF, sign Stephen Jackson, bring back Vlad Rad, just anything but Bell, please.

How much older and slower can we get... I predict broken hips will be our most common injury next season.

At 35? K-Mart was great in 2002, but I don't know if today I'd like a 34+ year old forward.

He's the best we can do, and he played pretty well for the Knicks last season. We're offering one year only deals, and clearly tanking, so we can only get whoever is willing to accept that. Who's a better, realistic option? Odom might sign here, but I can't say he's better. I doubt we get Martin if the Spurs are after him anyway, like I said in the k-Mart thread, playing for a possible championship > playing for maybe a playoff spot.

yes to martin and brown.

i watched brown play at CSUF and a little bit at the NBA level. the guy's undersized but has great speed which we need under d'antoni. and they could really use a tough guy like martin

i'd rather have sasha than bell

I take Bell as long as we also sign a young defender at SF, McGuire or Sam Young.. Would like to add Stephen Jackson too.. Brown, I'll take him over Morris at 3rd string PG for sure.. He won't look terrible when Nash gets hurts & his minutes go up unlike Morris. K-Mart I want, but I don't want him more than Odom. I think there's enough minutes to go around/injury risk that we could sign both K-Mart & LO.. & I hope that's what happens.. Brown, McGuire, Jackson, Martin, LO, Bell.. I'd be happy with our roster. I want all of those other guys more than Bell & would actually prefer Sasha over Bell, but Bell might be a better option since he can play SG & Kobe won't start the season.

Nash/Blake/Brown
Kobe/Meeks/Bell
Captain Jack/McGuire
LO/Hill/R-Kelly
Pau/Kaman/K-Mart

That's an extremely deep bench..

Other than Lamar no old guys....seriously. If you are at the cusp of a championship maybe...but this team isn't going to win it all. So instead try and find diamond's in the rough...players that simply were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also only sign players that have potential. Bobby Brown...nah. Really no to all 3 in this case.

K-Mart was pretty darn good for NY last year.

Unfortunately, I think it's one or the other when it comes to Odom and Martin. If this is indeed the case & both Odom and Martin want to be here, I would regret that we signed Kaman.
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

I already mentioned this in another thread, but who cares how good these guys are? We're tanking for a high pick this season. If we actually put people on this roster we wanted to root for, it'd just make the whole thing sad.

Much rather have LO than KMart. Much.

Can't stand Tinkerbell.

Don't know who Brown even is.

Here's how I see it.

Right now, with this roster, I imagine a season with 30 to 40 wins. If we cut Artest, which sounds like the likely case, I imagine a season with 30 wins. Maybe as little as 20 (which is mostly due to Kobe's injury and who we have left. If we signed these 3 guys and cut Artest, I'd say maybe 30 to 40 wins. If we kept Artest and added these 3, I wouldn't go to Vegas and bet money, but I'd have enough trust in the team get the 8th spot, but we'd most likely get demolished.

At this rate I'm believing that we are tanking, so I say "Don't try to save any dignity for this year....just do it."

Kenyon Martin (36), Raja Bell (37), don't know who and never heard of Bobby Brown before in NBA

We have many senior citizens and have enough veteran leadership in our squad already, it's about time to get younger and athletic right ? I rather have bunch of young legs players like Morris and Glock over all these dinosaur players.

Who is the youngest guy on the team anyways besides Kelly?

If I were Jim, I'd just sign Jason Collins

Every time I begin to wonder...He proves it...That is why I won't lose hope in him.
