how come theirs no mention of Atl? They lost Horford for the year and getting blown out left and right a few games before All-star brake. They could use Pau as a rental right?

1. They don't have any expiring contracts outside of Elton Brand and Gustavo Ayon (which combined is only $6M)
2. Both their picks (1 from Brooklyn as well) are expected to be 15+ picks.

I'm surprised the Bulls haven't made any noise yet. They're in playoff contention and have 3 first round picks

1. Sacramento protected (1-10). Not happening this year
2. Their pick
3. Bobcats pick.

If they still have interest in Gasol, I'd try to find a third team to facilitate moving Boozer.

Perhaps:

CHI: Gasol
CHA: Boozer
LA: Gordon, Mohammed (2014 Charlotte pick via Chicago)

I think that works out for all teams. That way, Charlotte doesn't have to give up their Detroit pick. That Charlotte pick will most likely be a 15-20 pick anyway and we get Gordon's expiring with Mohammed. Cats get a solid PF to place alongside Jefferson and work with Walker and MKG. Bulls get an offensive post presence to play alongside Noah.

AlexKennedyNBA: Rival executives believe the Lakers and Suns will resume trade talks, with Pau Gasol ultimately being traded to Phoenix.

AlexKennedyNBA: The executives believe Pau Gasol is the best player Phoenix can realistically get for Emeka Okafor's insured, expiring contract.

AlexKennedyNBA: They believe L.A. will deal Gasol rather than lose him in summer. Gasol has been looking into FA destinations and is expected to leave L.A.

Serious question #1: how unhealthy is Okafor at this point?
Serious question #2: any interest in re-signing a healthy Okafor?

Pau to PHX for Okafor, their first round pick and our own 2014 second rounder
Kaman to NJ for their Lopez TPE and a future second round pick

That should get us out of the luxury tax and it adds some draft picks.

If it's still not enough - deal Steve Blake to the Wizards for one of their lower salary guys and a future second rounder. They could use a steady vet guard.

I don't think we should deal Meeks, Farmar or Hill because I'd like to see them stay on the team after this season.

I have no idea what the LA plan is. Get under cap and then...?

Okafor's a solid double double and a good defender. If he could be picked up on the cheap for a year and paired with a solid PF, we could be in business.

The local sports talk show guys have been saying all along that Pau and his agent have been pushing for PHX but the Suns management want's players that will stay or commit to staying as well as wanting younger more mobile bigs.

They seem to think that the Suns are working the phones looking for just about anything else and will fall back to the Pau deal if nothing else materializes.

I don't think we will find anyone as good as he is for the vet minimum or a split of the MLE..... if he's healthy.

If he can recover fully, he is a 30 year old defensive center who can be useful, and I believe he can be signed relatively cheap. I like Okafor's game; he can give you 10/10 with elite defense. With all that said, herniated neck disk is a huge problem, and I am not convinced he'll bounce back. So, I would trade for him, yes, but I would not re-sign him. It's better to draft a center if possible, or sign a young player if not. He is good, but man, it can be risky. Except if he's willing to sign really cheap, and clearly shows he can play in the off-season.

Okafor is out the whole year due to spine/neck issues, how much more healthy can he get? serious injury like that especially for a big? I have to think his career is probably on the line, Mihms merely had ankle issue that derailed his career.

His injury makes me very skeptical that he can remain healthy.

I agree..... That's why I qualified the assertion.

Backs/necks are really hard injuries to comeback from.

If he can practice for 10 whole minutes and miss half the season. Sign him the eff up. :man13:

3 years / 30 million. His +/- on the court might be terrible, but think about the E-wins.

New Orleans--as noted in today's primer--is working hard to offload either Eric Gordon or Tyreke Evans, rival execs say.

You have to love the dumb teams like this. Give Gordon and Evans ridiculous contracts and immediately try to trade them. Same can be said with Josh Smith in Detroit and Jack in Cleveland.

I wonder how they are going to spin this on being the Lakers fault this time?

Meeks/Kaman
for
D. Stevenson/Cunningham/Atl 1st (top 15 protected)

Atl gets a backup C and better shooting backup 2. We waive the chumps from Atl :man1:

I'm annoyed if this goes through:

Celtics Blog is reporting the Houston Rockets are trying to steal Rajon Rondo away. Honestly, this is the perfect deal for Houston. It would give them an experiences floor general to get Dwight Howard and James Harden their touches as well as a defensive-minded point guard to stop opponents at the point of attack.

The report claims: "This source says that Houston's general manager Daryl Morey is willing to offer two first round draft picks and other players to make the deal work. However, Danny Ainge has remained steadfast and insisted that 25-year-old forward Chandler Parsons is included into the deal. Understandably, Morey has decided to bide his time and wait to see what other types of offers Boston received before giving in and offering Parsons. Other young players Houston can offer include point guard Patrick Beverley, power forward Donatas Motiejunas, and combo-forward Terrence Jones."

If Houston can get Rondo, they should give up Parsons. Parsons is a solid role player. Rondo is a star. Rondo/Dwight/Harden all of a sudden becomes Heat West.

I actually think that'd be a bad move for the Rocket locker room.

Rondo is very Kobe-esque in his approach to the game. He likes to be the alpha dog and he likes to be the leader. It would be the best thing they could do ON PAPER, but how does Dwight react to another guy that gets in your face? How will Dwight react to another guy telling him where to go and what to do and how to prepare for the game? I don't think he's going to like it.

That being said, the talent would be fantastic. If they could get their personalities in line, they'd be a great team.
