You probably seen this on LG...can you post a link, please? Also, mods just a suggestion, can we have an Official Trade Discussion Thread for anything trade related...conjecture, speculation, etc....Just a thought...

Longtime friend of the show @sam_amick of USA Today throws out Steve Blake as one name #Warriors might grab at trade deadline. Speculating.

Mark Kreidler ‏@MarkKreidler 2h
(cont.) Sam's point is that #Warriors have mostly trade exceptions to offer, so it's not likely to be blockbuster. Trade deadline is Thurs.

I really hope we don't throw away Blake for some garbage offer.... when he's playing well he looks like a Top-15 PG in the league....

If it happens it will probably be Blake for the TPE and a 2nd rounder. Not a bad deal for us since Blake is only going to help us win games and right now that isn't what we need. I also think it only happens if with have another deal in place with Pau or maybe Hill and whoever that would drop us below the luxury tax line this season.

A trade exception can prove useful next season. For example, Lamar Odom's trade exception was used to sign Steve Nash.

There's no need for Blake here with Marshall playing well and Farmar here, he's going to expire, and he could help them out.

Let's hope we make a better use of that TPE

If healthy, Blake is a valuable piece for a playoff team. For us he's an expiring that will not be re-signed

If so it would be good news. I do not want Blake back here next year - too expensive, too injury prone, too much of a bust in his time here.

Also I believe this would get us closer to under for the repeaters luxury tax, right? I think we would still need to get another 3 or 4 million under, yeah? Blake's salary is 4 mill a year? Maybe moving either Pau, Kaman or Hill, too, would do it?

Perhaps we can package Hill in the Blake trade and get a 1st round pick.

Blake for a 2nd Round Pick? Blake for anything? Let's do it.

Meeks will be back soon and then we can have a more traditional lineup. Even though I really do like what Blake provides for us.

TPE and a 2nd rounder?

Mitch: :deal:

Nothing against Blake, I respect the guy and all, but... yeah. Do it, Mitch.

I'm really glad you're not our GM, first you wanted to trade half our "garbage" team for 2nd round picks, now you think Blake looks like a top 15 PG. :man11:

It’s this reason that the team is looking to go out and make a trade at the deadline by either trading away a star or using their trade exception. The team seems open to trading everyone except Stephen Curry and Andrew Bogut, but Sam Amick from USA Today suggests that using a trade exception may be the most likely option for Golden State.

The Warriors have two sizable trade exceptions ($9 million and $4 million) that don’t expire until next summer, as well as two smaller exceptions (approximately $780,000) that expire on Feb. 17.
The team isn’t guaranteed to make a move, but it appears they want either depth on the bench or another veteran starter to come in and help. Bench depth is more likely and the trade exception very well could be used by the deadline.

So, According to Amick, Golden State has a trade exception for 4 millions; Steve Blake's salary. Their in need of a backup PG badly & they must win now. Makes sense to it for the TPE and an additional player/draft pick.

That would be absolutely amazing.. But I'd be happy with the TPE + 2nd if that's the best we can do.. Blake isn't exactly a big name.

Actually getting 2nd round picks for our players would be beneficial it gives us more flexibility.....

And no bodies to actually put on the court the way you wanted to do it. I just find it funny that you call Sacre the worst player in the NBA, yet want to trade him for a 2nd rounder that will most likely never be better than him, and then call Blake a top 15 PG and don't want to trade HIM. I would just have question your talent evaluation skills is all, and Blake is exactly a player we should be trying to trade because he does have some value to teams, his salary is reasonable, and he shouldn't be in our future plans.

Flexibility for what? You make it sound like we're a player or two away…… reality is we only have 3 player under contract for next year…..

I mentioned this somewhere earlier in the year as an alternative to getting under the lux tax threshold if the Pau-Bynum deal didn't go through. Mark Jackson likes veteran guards off the bench like Jarret Jack was for them last season. The Nets could use another big body (Kaman) with Lopez out. Especially now that they look like they're playoff bound. Lopez' medical exception can be used like a TPE.
