i think any deal like this needs a more athletic player coming back. we've seen how much having one athlete on the floor with kobe/nash/howard can do (hill and clark), imagine getting two out there at all times.

Henderson would be great fit....he is on 45% for 3 this season and really athletic player if you ask Dwight

Gordon and Diop for Pau? I know he's bad right now but he has to be worth more than that, that's terrible, unless that draft pick is like top 10 or something, Diop is horrible and Gordon is good but old.

I would at least keep listening to offers, because the way things are right now I agree with what Stephen A said this morning, Dwight might not be staying. Why would he want to stay and play under 'Antoni, why would he want to stay and keep losing? Money has to mean a ton to him for him to stay here.

Let's not forget the other financial opportunities in both NYC and Russia that playing in Brooklyn offer him........ as well as being undisputed "Alpha".....

Facts are that we are not re-building this team into a contender with just a Pau trade long term. Fact #2, Howard isn't a cornerstone to build around IMHO... He needs a specific team around him to take advantage of his narrow skill set and the odds of us getting those players with the new cap are fairly remote.

I'd be listening for sure if we could bring back numbers of good players in return.

Gordon/Henderson/Diop and their 1st for Pau/Ebanks/Duhon would do wonders for the system that D'Antoni is obviously not going to give up. All of these players are clearly inferior to Pau but would make this team much better considering who the coach is. Gordon is the 6th man microwave sniper that this team sorely lacks off the bench, Henderson is a super athletic 2 way player who can fill a Raja Bell type role, and Diop is just solid big man insurance. If the Lakers can pick up a Dante Cunningham or another athletic 4 to fill in for Jordan Hill they would be looking nice. Plus the pick they would be getting would be around the top 5 and alittle infusion of youth will not hurt.

Nash/Blake/Morris
Henderson/Gordon/Meeks
Kobe/MWP
Clark/Jamison/*Cunningham/KMart type player*/Hill
Dwight/Diop/Sacre

That team would be able to run up and down with almost anybody in the league.

Unless that draft pick is unprotected, I would pass. If it is a lotto pick (as it currently stands)+Gordon+Diop I would give it consideration. Still prefer to see what offers come in the offseason.

Now if Atlanta somehow wants to give up a Josh Smith/Korver/Devin Harris deal for Pau/Duhon/Ebanks or whatever else it takes I'd take that in a heartbeat over this Bobcats package.

Just like the Howard deal..... in time the shine would wear off of Smith. He's another physically talented player that lacks most of the basic fundamentals to play at this level is he wasn't athletically gifted.

Here's the issue with that. We essentially have 3 "Max" players on our Roster now. Letting one of them go with no compensation doesn't help us because we are still over the cap.... even lettin 2 of them go doesn't help us because we cannot replace them because of the new cap.

The Lakers have but one chance to build a team with 2 or 3 very good players and it would have to be done through trades not Free Agency. To let everyone expire and start over means that we are going to have one Max Deal and a supporting cast..... like everyone else once they start letting the high paid players expire.

I didn't know that. Well, of our three max players, Kobe, Pau, Dwight, the only I see moved is Pau. Their going to let Kobe expire, obviously. Dwight is a question mark at this point. If he leaves, without us getting anything, then based upon your premise, that doesn't put us in a very good position.

I doubt Charlotte gives up both SGs in Gordon and Henderson. Gordon + Dip is not enough. We need defense. Maybe we can throw in Morris for Henderson, though Morris has some weird trade restriction as a bird player.

How are the Nets better right now? They fired Johnson, who says this coach will keep them going? D-Will and Joe is different than Nash, Kobe, and Pau? Is it better?

I am not liking MDA, but I feel like that is super flawed logic.

If we give up Pau without getting Henderson or MKG.. Might as well get used to not watching the NBA the rest of the season.

Trading Pau now is NOT an option. We will be getting nothing but crap back, which would do nothing to help our chances just to make the playoffs.

Ride this sinking ship out. Pray D12 re-ups. Trade Pau this offseason as his 20 mil expiring will get a heck of a lot more.

If we're trading Pau too in a another deal.. We need KLove, Pek, AND Barea or Brooks for Dwight. No way we trade for just an injured KLove & completely give up on the season.

How is this one of the best jobs ever? We absolutely suck and Dwight has to explain why to the media game after game after game, the scrutiny here is huge. Let's not pretend it's a privilege just to play for the Lakers anymore and players should sit back and take whatever they must to be here. That is not the case anymore, hell even the Clippers is a more attractive place for free agents right now. And I'm sorry, but that analogy is terrible, this is the NBA, your coach in the NBA can ruin your entire job, you can't simply ignore or avoid your boss in the NBA, if it's not a good fit, it's a disaster. And clearly coaching was an issue with the Nets because they are 11-2 under PJ. How are the Nets better? They aren't 17-24, and they have a young core with a future. Lastly, of course Dwight has the right to "quit" this job if he wants, that's what being a free agent means
