TWC Sportsnet Launch Party

TWC Sportsnet Launch Party

Postby Pig Miller on Mon Oct 01, 2012 10:00 pm

Just got back, thought I'd share my experience.

1) If D12's dancing is any indication of his readiness for the season, we should be in good shape. he shouldn't miss too much time. the guy danced with half the girls at the party, took pictures with fans from every direction and looked really happy. he was really goofy and just being himself.

2) pau and kobe hung out alot together. spent a good chunk of the night together. not many people approached them compared to dwight.

3) antawn jamison kept to himself, blake was very social.

4) artest was his eccentric self. didn't realize just quite how big he was. the guy is massive.

5) magic, big game james, rambo, and kupchake were all there. as was jeannie buss, tearing up the dance floor.

6) laker rookies were all huddled together in the corner. odom is tiny, no way he's 6 foot.

7) not a laker, but beckham was there, and the ladies were all over the guy. he looked like he had enough by the end of the night.

8) laker girls looked FANTASTIC!

not really. i'd say 90% of his time was spent talking to pau and handshakes with various execs.

only a few people were hitting up Stu.

no one talked to the rookies/training camp guys. that somogyi guy is ridiculously tall, solid looking gf too, but just stood there by himself all night.

seeing dwight interact with the fans was the best part. he really seemed to be enjoying himself. mitch should have had the pen and contract ready to go while he was dancing.

Can anyone on here who has TWCSN record the preseason games? I have been a loyal Lakers fan for 17 years...heck, I even bought the summer league pass from NBATV, but I live in NY and I won't have access to the preseason games. I badly want to watch how some of the position battles for the end of the bench go, and I don't want to rely on the 10 second recaps on BSPN. Can anyone help a fellow Laker Fan out?
The End is nigh. Time for a total Cut and Shuffle. Kobe contract was a mistake...time to avoid making more. The future is here, whether we want it to be or not. An era is over, but for the death rattle, and it's time for the cycle to begin anew. Growth and change are scary and painful, but alas...nothing worth achieving comes easily.

honestly, i know how the company works (i worked for them, did work for the ceo too), and they will drag this out till the last minute.

i know twc is losing customers at this point, so i wouldn't be surprised if they used this deal to mitigate some of the competitions rising cost of programming.

losing subs is also a reason they need to get a good deal here, to offset some of the revenue from losing subscribers.

i wouldn't expect them to strike a deal for at least 2 weeks, and likely up till the start of the regular season.

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath for a deal. IMO TWC sucks, but so does AT&T, most cable companies do, all of them charge too much for tv for one thing.

^ I dunno. Can't be too much if people are still willing to pay for it. Surely, we do it begrudgingly, but I wouldn't give up my cable. Maybe I just need new hobbies =)

I actually think deals will be made. I just don't think it will be with every provider. I just hope it is someone I can switch to, if it's not my own provider (Cox).

so if my boss has verizon and let's say they don't make a deal with TWC, will he be able to still watch Laker games on his NBA League pass or what is the other way?

If he lives in the Lakers DMA zone (LA,Socal,OC,San Diego, Ventura,Santa Barbra, Oxnard, Bakersfield, Fresno, Las Vegas, or Hawaii)

He will get blacked out of all local home & road games.
